Oleksandr Kosenko: "We need to analyze this match quickly and draw the right conclusions"
The head coach of Ukraine’s futsal national team, Oleksandr Kosenko, commented on the defeat in their opening match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 in Uzbekistan against Argentina (1:7).
"It was tough for us, but we played a decent first half. We scored first and had our chances. With well-organized teams like Argentina, it's very difficult to come back once you're behind. They punish every mistake. We didn’t make too many errors, but they capitalized on the few we did. We need to quickly analyze this match and draw the right conclusions. Everything is in our hands, feet, and minds. It all depends on us. We have two more games, and we will try to turn the situation around.
We've been in similar situations before — both big and simple defeats that pushed us to the edge. I hope this loss will make us stronger, and that we’ll learn the right lessons. I hope we come out hungrier and more determined to win. I can’t say we didn’t have that desire in this match, but Argentina was just a bit faster, a bit stronger. Those inches and milliseconds made the difference. Argentina is truly an organized, strong team. I hope this loss will only make us better," said Oleksandr Kosenko, as quoted by the Ukrainian Futsal Association's press service.
