EURO 2025 (U-21): Ukraine U-21 players reflect on win over Serbia and upcoming clash with Northern Ireland
On September 10, Ukraine’s U-21 team will play their next match in the EURO 2025 (U-21) qualifiers against Northern Ireland.
In their previous game on September 6, Ukraine defeated Serbia 2:1 in Riga. Midfielders Nazar Voloshyn and Yehor Yarmolyuk shared their thoughts on the victory and their preparations for the clash with Northern Ireland.
"We played very well and achieved a positive result. I’m very happy that we won and earned three points. However, the first 20 minutes didn’t go as planned. England’s draw helps us in the group standings, but we’re focused on our game and progressing with each match. We want to win every time. It was indeed surprising to see England finish 0:0," said Nazar Voloshyn.
"We’re preparing for Northern Ireland. I expect it to be a tough game with many challenges, but we’re aiming for the win," he added.
"I’m happy with the win, earning three points, and moving forward. The opponent didn’t surprise us, as we focused on playing our style and dictating the tempo. England’s draw makes things easier for the group, but we rely only on ourselves. Against Northern Ireland, we hope to show our game on our terms. We’re ready for the fight," echoed Yehor Yarmolyuk.
The EURO 2025 (U-21) qualifying match between Northern Ireland and Ukraine will take place on September 10 in Ballymena, with kick-off at 21:45 Kyiv time.
