Maksym Talovierov: "The match against Poland was a good lesson for us"

On June 7th, the Ukrainian national team played a friendly match against Poland in Warsaw (1:3). Defender Maksym Talovierov shared his thoughts on the game.

"The start of the match was not good for us. The Poles took advantage of set pieces, and it became difficult for us. Although we dominated the game later on, Poland played better overall. I think this is a good lesson for us. We still have time to work on set pieces and take them more seriously in the future.

I can't say that we lacked any attacking components in the first half. It seems we had two or three one-on-one chances but conceded very unfortunate goals. We controlled the game and had our chances — that's a decent outcome.

Of course, Robert Lewandowski is a fantastic player. It's very enjoyable to play against such footballers because you always improve with them. I'm very happy because this was my debut game in the starting lineup for the Ukrainian national team. It's sad, of course, when you concede three times, but that's football. We have time to correct what didn't work in the match against Poland. We will be ready in a week," said Maksym Taloverov.
