Anatoliy Trubin: "I talked with Neuer after the game and we exchanged jerseys"

Goalkeeper of the national team of Ukraine, Anatoliy Trubin, shared his impressions of the friendly match against Germany.

On June 3rd, in Nuremberg, the Ukrainian national team played a friendly match against Germany, ending in a 0:0 draw. Man of the Match Anatoliy Trubin, the goalkeeper, shared his thoughts on the game.

“We had a decent game, but it wasn’t perfect. We need to analyze both team and individual actions and draw conclusions. Germany is one of the favorites for Euro 2024, so it was an ideal match for preparation.

I can’t single out one player from the German team because they are all top-level, playing in the best European clubs. The toughest moment for me was the shot that hit the post—it was at a very awkward height and from a close distance. But as they say, the post is a goalkeeper's best friend.

After the match, I told Neuer that he played very well, as we had several good moments and he responded brilliantly. We also exchanged jerseys. He wasn’t my idol, but he is a world-class goalkeeper.

I want to thank our fans who were here and supported us even away from home. It’s inspiring because the game isn’t the same without the fans. It’s the emotions, it’s the pressure on us. Our fans are the best,” said Anatoliy Trubin.
