Ukraine holds Germany to a goalless draw in a friendly at Nuremberg
On June 3, as part of their preparations for EURO 2024, the Ukrainian national team played a friendly match in Nuremberg against the host of the final tournament, Germany.
Today, the blue-yellows played their first summer game. Interestingly, it was on June 3 that Serhiy Rebrov celebrated his 50th birthday. Exactly a year ago, he made his debut as the head coach of the national team in a match against the Germans. The coach of the Ukrainian national team resorted to personnel and tactical experiments, including with Zinchenko's position. It should be noted that Mykolenko was left out of the game roster and will join the team later.

The first chance came from the guests: Mudryk launched a counter-attack, but his shot was blocked, and Tsygankov missed the rebound. The Germans responded with an inaccurate attempt by Mittelstadt and began to press our team. Later, from a good position, Gundogan unsuccessfully attempted a shot, while Wirtz aimed over the crossbar.
Our national team responded with an inaccurate long-range shot from Stepanenko. Then the Germans brought Gross into a good position, but he shot over the bar. In the 38th minute, Tsygankov intercepted the ball and passed it to Yaremchuk in the penalty area, but he failed to beat Neuer. The hosts had a chance with Musiala – the ball passed by the post after a deflection. Just before the break, Yaremchuk tested Neuer again.

The Germans started the second half aggressively, putting pressure on our team. Fortunately, Trubin and the defenders acted confidently, promptly blocking the opponents' attempts. The Ukrainians responded with a good chance from Mudryk, but Neuer intervened. In the 60th minute, after a brilliant through pass, Beier hit the crossbar. Soon, Trubin dealt with a dangerous shot from Beier and neutralized Undav's attempt.
At the end of the match, the hosts pushed forward again, with Trubin saving a powerful shot from Führich and dealing with Beier's dangerous attempt. There was a moment for the Ukrainian team, but they couldn't punish Neuer for his mistake in the center of the field. Later, Manuel made amends with a save after Yarmolenko's shot in the near corner. In stoppage time, Trubin prevented Undav from scoring. In the end, the teams couldn't score – 0:0.
