Yuriy Moroz: "Two matches to go, we'll keep preparing, it's not over yet"

Yuriy Moroz, the head coach of the Ukraine U-17 youth team, shared his thoughts following their 0:1 loss to Serbia in the opening match of the 2024 European Championship.

"In the second half, we had the advantage but failed to capitalize on the opportunities we had. However, we have two more matches ahead, and we will keep preparing. It's not over yet.

The quick goal by Serbia didn't disrupt our tactics much, but it did unsettle us slightly. In the first half, the boys lost some challenges, and that's precisely why we conceded. We were pushed back towards our own goal, and the opponent took advantage.

As you can see, there's some misfortune involved. Stepanov made some good movements and had several chances, but it just didn't go in. The substitutions boosted our game. Redushko and Soroka came on, providing structure in midfield and ball possession. But in football, it's the one who scores that wins.

Will this defeat change our tournament strategy? Not much. We need to go out and win every game.
