EURO-2025 (U-21): Ukraine team players reflected on victory over Azerbaijan
The Ukraine U-21 team clinched a confident victory in their Euro 2025 (U-21) qualifying match against Azerbaijan (3:0) and continues to top Group F.
First, the players shared their impressions of the successful performance, including goal-scorers Oleksandr Yatsyk, Oleh Ocheretko, and Valentyn Rubchynskyi.
"It's my debut goal, and I'm very happy to score for the national team for the first time," said Oleksandr Yatsyk.
"The emotions are very pleasant because I helped the team win this match. My goal is also thanks to my teammates, who played a good combination. We played very well, but we can do better. For example, in the first half, we could have attacked more, like we did in the second," added Oleh Ocheretko.
"Nothing special — just scored a regular goal. You could say we put a dot in the match to finish it calmly, bringing it to a logical conclusion," summed up Valentin Rubchynskyi.
Later, defender Arseniy Batagov joined the scorers.
"The game was challenging for us, so from the very beginning, we started creating chances, plus there were many set pieces. We managed to score an early goal, so I consider our victory to be legitimate. We've won all six matches out of six, conceding only two goals. Therefore, I believe we are moving in the right direction. The team is progressing and will continue to progress further," he emphasized.
It's worth noting that the next qualifying match for Euro 2025 (U-21) for Unai Melgosa's wards will take place on September 6 against Serbia.
