The International Federation of Football (FIFA) has published all the details about the Club World Cup 2025: qualification details for teams, dates and tournament format.
In 2025, the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup will take place, according to the official website of FIFA. Thirty-two clubs from UEFA, AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and OFC will participate in it. The new competition will be called FIFA Club World Cup.
The United States of America will be the first host of the new FIFA club tournament.
The tournament will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025.
Thirty-two teams will compete in the tournament, with the number distributed among international football confederations.
CAF (Africa) — four teams (two — through the CAF Champions League and one — by CAF ranking).
AFC (Asia) — four teams (two — through the AFC Champions League and one — by AFC ranking).
UEFA (Europe) — 12 teams (choto — through the UEFA Champions League and eight — by UEFA ranking).
CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean) — four teams (including — through the CONCACAF Champions League).
OFC (Oceania) — one team (through OFC ranking).
CONMEBOL (South America) — six teams (choto — through the Copa Libertadores and two — by CONMEBOL ranking).
Host country — one team.
Nineteen teams have already qualified.
CAF (Africa) — «Al-Ahly» (Egypt), «Wydad» (Morocco).
AFC (Asia) — «Al-Hilal» (Saudi Arabia), «Urawa Red Diamonds» (Japan).
UEFA (Europe) — «Chelsea» (England), «Real Madrid» (Spain), «Manchester City» (England), «Bayern Munich» (Germany), «PSG» (France), «Inter» (Italy), «Porto» (Portugal), «Benfica» (Portugal).
CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean) — «Monterrey» (Mexico), «Seattle Sounders FC» (USA), «León» (Mexico).
OFC (Oceania) — «Auckland City» (New Zealand).
CONMEBOL (South America) — «Palmeiras» (Brazil), «Flamengo» (Brazil), «Fluminense» (Brazil).
Thirteen vacant spots will be filled as follows:
CAF (Africa) — CAF Champions League 2023/2024 and the ranking pathway of CAF.
AFC (Asia) — AFC Champions League 2023/2024 and the ranking pathway of AFC.
UEFA (Europe) — UEFA Champions League 2023/2024 and the ranking pathway of UEFA (three teams).
CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean) — CONCACAF Champions League 2024.
CONMEBOL (South America) — Copa Libertadores 2024 and the ranking pathway of CONMEBOL (two teams).
Host country — one team.
In case a club wins two or more main tournaments of any confederation during the period 2021—2024, the ranking pathway will be used to grant participation rights in the tournament.
The number of clubs from one country will be limited to two, except when more than two clubs from one country win a main club tournament of any confederation during the four-year period.
At the group stage, participants will be divided into eight groups with four teams in each.
Matches will take place under a round-robin system.
The top two teams in each group advance to the Round of 16.
Knockout matches from the Round of 16 to the final match.
There will be no third-place playoff match.
