Today, February 25th, before the match of the 18th round of Vbet League "Metalist 1925" - "Dynamo", President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Shevchenko answered several current questions in an interview on channel «UPL TV».
"First and foremost, I would like to thank once again the men and women serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who make it possible for us to live and even play football. All fans wanted football to return after the winter break and are waiting for quality performances from teams that bring positive emotions.
Soon, the national team will gather ahead of the Euro 2024 playoff qualifier match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Players from the domestic championship will travel to Marbella, where representatives of foreign clubs will join them later. It is important that the boys arrive motivated, and we will do everything necessary for their effective preparation," — noted the head of UAF.
Andriy Shevchenko also spoke about significant events that took place this week with his participation and shared thoughts on strategic conservation of football resources for the country.
"I had meetings with representatives of the UPL and PFL, where there were no restrictions during discussions. One of the main issues we addressed was the referee issue. The Referees Committee is headed by Kateryna Monzul, who has the opportunity to form her own team and propose her initiatives. We will connect a lie detector, draw lots. The most important thing — restore trust in our referees.
Regarding the topic of conserving our football resources abroad... We know about these children who were forced to leave Ukraine due to Russia's full-scale invasion. And we discussed this issue during the recent UEFA Congress in Paris with representatives of some associations — for example, Croatia, which has a similar experience.
We will keep track of our young footballers who are studying at academies in other countries — England, Germany and so on. It is also important to establish contact with their families. We will do everything we can and believe that they will return," — emphasized the president of UAF.
