Today, November 17th, Ukraine's youth national team played their next qualifier in the Euro-2025 (U-21) tournament against Luxembourg in Murcia, Spain.

The current qualification cycle for the European Championship features Ukraine's U-21 squad (players born in 2002 and younger), led by Spanish coach Unai Melgosa. They started with three consecutive wins, including a home victory over reigning European champions England (3:2).

Today, however, in Murcia, Spain, the blue and yellow team faced Luxembourg. The Ukrainians took control of the ball from the start. The first goal-scoring opportunity came when Vanat went one-on-one with the goalkeeper but Latik saved for his team. Shortly after a corner kick, Rubchynsky scored with a second touch, but the goalkeeper parried it away.

At the 24th minute, Ukraine almost conceded near their own goal, but Nescheret covered for his teammates. Later, Batagov connected on a corner and headed towards goal, but Latik was there again. Then Vyunyk closed in on Vanat's cross, but his shot was blocked by a defender. And finally, at the 35th minute, Ukraine opened the scoring: after a great corner from Batagov, Voloshin passed to an open Vanat.

At the start of the second half, Luxembourg was reduced to ten men as Berberi received a second yellow card. Soon after, Ukraine launched wave after wave of dangerous attacks; Latik saved his team several times. On the 64th minute, Batagov came on for a corner and doubled the lead with a header off a rebound. Shortly thereafter, Voloshin also scored from a header off another corner.

On the 74th minute, a combination play by Ocheretyko-Smoliankov-Krasnopiir brought Ukraine's fourth goal. Our boys could have scored more but settled for the final score of 4-0.

The next match for Unai Melgosa's team will also be in Murcia on November 21st against Azerbaijan (kickoff at 8 PM Kyiv time).
