In the fourth group stage match of the Champions League, Donetsk's Shakhtar faced Barcelona in Hamburg, Germany.

The miners aimed to redeem themselves after their away defeat by the Catalans — 1:2. However, Marino Pušić could not rely on Konoplyanik and Bondarenko today.

In the first half, Ukrainians did not yield in any way to their illustrious opponent, and at times even dominated. And while Matviyenko failed to score past Ter Stegen after a cross from Rakitskyi from deep on the 15th minute, Shakhtar opened the scoring on the 40th minute. Sudakov excellently moved the ball to the right flank, Gocholishvili crossed, and Sykhan scored with his head.

After halftime, the picture of the game hardly changed. Shakhtar skillfully defended and regularly launched sharp attacks. Thus, Ter Stegen had to save Barcelona from shots in tight angles by Gocholishvili and Sykhan.

Towards the end of the match, the miners openly focused on defense but did not allow the Spaniards even a goal-scoring moment. Moreover, the ball was in the net for Barcelona again, but Neveton's goal was disallowed due to offside. So we have an upset victory by Ukraine's champion — 1:0.

In Shakhtar’s lineup were players who were called up for the October national team training camp: Riznyk, Matviyenko, Stepanshenko (substituted on the 72nd minute), Zubkov, Sudakov, Nazarina (came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute).
