The blue-and-yellow team started their group stage with losses against Serbia (1:2), Poland (1:2), and Greece (1:2). Now, however, the players of Volodymyr Pyatenok faced the Greek team again. The nominal home match was played on the island of Crete in Heraklion at the «Theodoros Vardinoyannis» stadium.

At the start of the game, both teams were evenly matched. Then the Greeks made several attempts, including a save by Kelyushyk on an attempt by Spiridonidou and a shot from Sarri that missed the near post. The Ukrainians responded with shots from Apanasheiko and Hryin in the area.

At the 32nd minute, our team went ahead. Petrik scored a penalty kick to the crossbar, and Apanasheiko put the ball into the net. At the end of the first half, Kravchuk and Apanasheiko troubled the Greek goalkeeper.

The start of the second half was for the nominal guests, with Sarri shooting from outside the box near the penalty area. Soon after, the Ukrainians took control but did not make a serious attempt on goal.

At the 74th minute, Glushenko somehow failed to score after intercepting and passing to Apanasheiko. The Greeks responded with a shot from Georgantzis that Kelyushyk saved, as well as in extra time when Sidera threatened the goal. In summary, we have the first victory of the blue-and-yellow team in the group — 1:0.

The women's national team will play their next match in the League of Nations against Poland on December 1 at the "Steel" stadium in Stalnaya Volia (link).
