The Ukrainian Football Association has addressed UEFA with an official letter requesting decisive measures regarding the possible integration of football clubs from occupied territories of Ukraine into tournaments of the aggressor country.

"We are compelled to address you once again concerning the issue about which we have communicated with you several times over the past year, namely — regarding the illegal actions of the Russian terrorist state and the RFU towards Ukraine and football. In this case — regarding attempts to integrate football clubs from temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine into Russian national championships, which are currently proceeding without any obstacles or restrictions. Despite the legal aspect according to which UEFA granted a special status to the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 2014, intended to protect it from Russia's aggressive behavior.

Recently, Deputy Minister of Sport of Russia Odess Bayssultanov stated that football clubs from occupied territories of Ukraine should be included in Russian championships and also noted that the exclusion of Crimean clubs from the second division of the Russian championship in 2014 according to UEFA requirements was a mistake, and Russia «does not care about the position of UEFA and FIFA».

We are more than concerned about how the situation is developing and request that UEFA pay special attention and take decisive measures regarding the above-mentioned violations, illegality, and an exclusively disrespectful attitude towards the entire football family," — in particular, this is stated in the letter of the UFA.
