To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10:00 on October 20, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred and fourth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

Forces of the Ukrainian Defense are continuing defensive operations in eastern and southern Ukraine, offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, and offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction. They are destroying the enemy, gradually liberating temporarily occupied territories, and consolidating their positions along the achieved lines.

Over the past day, 90 combat engagements took place.

Yesterday, Russian terrorists carried out another missile strike with a «Iskander-M» ballistic missile on a civilian object in the city of Mykolaiv.

In addition, occupiers used Shahed-136/131 combat drones against southern Ukraine, most of which were destroyed by anti-aircraft defenses.

Overall, the enemy carried out 12 missile and 60 air strikes, conducted 53 artillery attacks with multiple rocket launchers on our military positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there were casualties among civilians. Multi-story and private residential buildings as well as other civilian infrastructure sustained damage.

Air raids by Russian occupiers hit Petrovskivka, Podol, Pishchane in Kharkiv Oblast; Bihorivka in Luhansk Oblast; Sipyntsi, Viyimka, Vesela, Klyshchyovka, Kurdyumivka, New York, Avdiivka, Berdychi, Oleksandriopil, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Pavlivka in Donetsk Oblast; Robotyne, Novodanilivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Berislav and Vesela in Kherson Oblast.

Under artillery fire from Russian occupiers were about 150 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping «North», on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our forces from redeploying to threatening sectors, and increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping «Torets», on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 30 enemy attacks near populated areas of Synkivka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv Oblast, as well as 12 attacks near Nadiia in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Lyman direction, forces of defense prevented the loss of positions around Makieivka in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to restore lost positions near Klyshchyovka in Donetsk Oblast. In turn, Ukrainian forces continue offensive actions south of Bakhmut, inflicting losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping «Tavria», on the Avdiivka direction, the enemy renewed offensive actions and does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. Thus, yesterday's losses of the enemy amounted to: killed and wounded — almost 900 occupiers, destroyed and damaged nearly 50 tanks and over 100 units of armored equipment. Also unsuccessful were offensive actions by the enemy in the areas of Novokalynovo, Stepovoye, and Severnyy in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Marinka direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful storming actions with air support near Marinka in Donetsk Oblast. Here, forces of defense repelled 16 attacks by the enemy.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled attacks by the enemy near Zolotoy Niva and Stary Mayor in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders prevented the loss of positions around Verbove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping «Odessa», on the Kherson direction, forces of defense are conducting counter-battery fire, inflicting artillery damage on enemy rear areas.

Forces of defense continue offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

During the day, aviation of forces of defense carried out an attack on a command post, 13 strikes — on areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, and four more — on air defense missile systems of the enemy. Also, our defenders destroyed four reconnaissance drones at the operational-tactical level.

Subunits of rocket forces inflicted damage to a command post, two areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, two heavy multiple launch rocket systems TOS-1A «Soltsemoyok», and 13 artillery systems of the enemy.

Estimated losses of the enemy over the past day totaled approximately: 1,380 occupiers, 55 tanks, 120 armored combat vehicles, 29 artillery systems, four MLRS, eight operational-tactical level drones, one cruise missile, and 33 vehicles.
