Four teams participated in the competition, playing matches against each other for 20 minutes. The tournament was preceded by an official ceremony featuring the Ukrainian National Anthem, a moment of silence, and the opening of a new sports field.

The ceremony was attended by the mother of fallen hero Oksana Yarmola, who made a significant financial contribution to the construction of this field, children of fallen war heroes, first vice-presidents of the UAF Anatoliy Demianenko and Vadim Kostyuchenko, and head of Zolochiv village council Oleksandr Lazarenko. Symbolically, Tetiana, grandmother of Viktor Yarmola, cut the red ribbon, who actually instilled her grandson's love for sports.

Viktor Yarmola, a resident of Vishenky village in Kyiv Oblast, was born on April 9, 1998. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation and signed a contract with the famous 95th Airmobile Brigade in October 2021. His call sign was "Barrier." Viktor was present at the front from day one of the war against Russia. During his last battle under enemy artillery shelling, he sustained severe injuries that were incompatible with life on May 21, 2022 near the city of Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast.

Viktor Yarmola was awarded the Order of "For Defense of the Motherland," according to the President's decree for personal courage and selfless actions in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity, loyalty to military oath - Order of "Courage" III degree (posthumously). A street is named after him in Vishenky village. 

Viktor Yarmola dreamed of becoming a football commentator. He had plans for his life, loved football and table tennis. He was passionate about the history of Ukraine...

" The idea to build this field emerged immediately after the creation of our community. In 2021, we developed a project, allocated funds and began work, but our plans were disrupted by the war in 2022. However, in autumn, Viktor Yarmola's mother approached me with an offer of financial assistance because Viktor loved football very much and was a fan of Kyiv Dynamo. Although her money alone would not have been enough, thanks to God, we had friendly relations with the Ukrainian Football Association and personally with Vadim Kostyuchenko. He heard about this project and managed to get the UAF to provide free cover for the football field and other necessary assistance. The FC "Left Bank" also joined in, understanding our situation and builders. Thanks to all these caring people, we now have this field that Viktor Yarmola dreamed of and which is very important for our residents. I am sincerely grateful to everyone involved in this project, and a big thank you to Mrs. Oksana." — said Oleksandr Lazarenko.

The first vice-president of the UAF, Vadim Kostyuchenko, welcomed the participants: "It is a great honor for me to be here today at the opening of this sports field and to start the Viktor Yarmola memorial tournament. I would like to convey your greetings from the head coach of the national team Serhiy Rebrov, players of the team and its captain Andriy Yarmolenko. They have sent gifts for future stars, I am sure, of youth, junior, and national teams of our country. I am very grateful that Viktor chose football. Today Ukraine unites through football. We help each other and we will definitely win.

Our national team played their last nominal home match in Wroclaw against England - and felt support not only from our country but also from fellow citizens who filled the arena to capacity. Thanks to such support, we proudly played against a formidable opponent. The next home meeting will be held in Prague because international matches in Ukraine during wartime are prohibited. However, all of our players dream of returning to NSK "Olympic," to "Lviv Arena," to "Donbass Arena"...

I am convinced that thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we will win and Ukrainian football players will definitely play a match with stars of world football in gratitude to the ZSU. And now I would like to thank those who risk their lives to achieve victory on the front lines. It is precisely because of them that we can communicate with you during this difficult time and bring joy to future football stars, who train at one of the best sports schools in our community - "Left Bank."

After this, the legendary footballer and first vice-president of the UAF Anatoliy Demianenko presented Viktor Yarmola's mother with a honorary award from the Ukrainian Football Association, a national team jersey, a football signed by players of the national team, and souvenirs from the UAF.

Also honored was head of Zolochiv village council Oleksandr Lazarenko who received a jubilee medal on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the UAF, a national team jersey, and a ball signed by players. On behalf of his community, he accepted sports equipment as a gift for its residents.

In addition, children of fallen heroes from Zolochiv village received a backpack from the UAF containing jerseys, caps, souvenir products, scarves with logos of the national team and a football signed by players. The defender of Kyiv Dynamo and youth national team U-17 Maxim Dyachuk participated in awarding the children. 

Vadim Kostyuchenko invited Viktor Yarmola's mother and grandmother, as well as children of fallen heroes from Zolochiv village to attend the next match of the national team in Euro-2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia on October 14 in Prague.

After this, the tournament itself began. The winner was the "Petropavlivske" team, second place went to "Hnidin," third - FC "Drago," and fourth - "Vishenky." 

The best players of the Viktor Yarmola memorial tournament teams were: in FC "Petropavlivske" — Oleksandr Ilchishyn, in FC "Hnidin" — Yuriy Kudko, in FC "Drago" — Viacheslav Zaichenko, and in FC "Vishenky" — Oleksandr Kulisha.
