To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10:00 on September 22, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The seventeenth day of the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

Russian occupiers continue to ignore international humanitarian law, conducting not only attacks on Ukrainian positions but also strikes on civilian infrastructure in populated areas, terrorizing peaceful residents. Thus, yesterday, the Russian Federation carried out another massive missile strike on energy, industrial, and other civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, using 44 cruise missiles of air-based X-101/X-555/X-55 models and six surface-to-air guided missiles S-300. Anti-aircraft defense destroyed 38 cruise missiles. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. Civilian infrastructure such as residential buildings, educational and medical institutions, dormitories, and other facilities have been damaged or destroyed.

Forces defending Ukraine continue to conduct defense operations in eastern and southern Ukraine, offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, and offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction, destroying the enemy step by step, liberating temporarily occupied territories, and consolidating their positions on achieved lines.

During the past day, 26 combat engagements took place. The enemy carried out 59 missile strikes and 62 air attacks, conducted 55 shelling operations with multiple rocket launchers both against our troops' positions and civilian objects.

Air attacks were suffered by Hremincha in Chernihiv Oblast; Dytiany in Sumy Oblast; Oghrytseve, Berestove, Kopanky, Shykivka in Kharkiv Oblast; Nevske in Luhansk Oblast; Dybrova, Andriyivka, Mynkivka, Klyshchyovka, Pivnichne, Arkhangelske, Yelizavetivka, Vugledar, Zolota Niva, Urozhayne, Staromayske in Donetsk Oblast; Bilyhorod, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne in Zaporizhzhya Oblast; Lvov, Olhyvka, Tyaginka in Kherson Oblast.

Over 120 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping of troops «North», on the Volyn and Polesie directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, and increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping of troops «Tyras», on the Bakhmut direction, forces defending Ukraine successfully repelled enemy attacks near north-eastern Grigoriyivka in Donetsk Oblast. The enemy attempted to restore lost positions near Andriyivka in Donetsk Oblast but was unsuccessful. Forces defending Ukraine continue offensive actions south of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, inflicting casualties on the enemy and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping of troops «Tyras», on the Mariupol direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Mariupol and Krasnogorivka in Donetsk Oblast. During the past day, occupiers made 12 failed attempts to drive our units from occupied positions here. On Shakhtarsky direction, forces defending Ukraine successfully repelled an attack by the enemy near Mykilske in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhya direction, attacks by the enemy in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhya Oblast ended for him with significant losses both in manpower and equipment. At the same time, on Avdiyivsky and Shakhtarsky directions, forces defending Ukraine continue to hold their positions, inflicting casualties on occupying troops.

On the Melitopol direction, forces defending Ukraine continue offensive operations, inflicting significant losses on occupying troops in manpower and equipment, exhausting the enemy, and forcing them to retreat from occupied positions.

In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic grouping of troops «Odessa», on the Kherson direction, forces defending Ukraine continue counter-battery warfare, destroying supply depots and successfully damaging enemy rear areas.

Due to catastrophic losses among occupiers, in order to replenish units in airborne troops of the Russian aggressor on the territory of Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, propaganda activities are being carried out in prisons. Prisoners are promised early release from places of deprivation of liberty in exchange for a contract with the Russian army until the end of the war. The Russian air assault has begun to be replenished with prisoners.

During the past day, aviation of forces defending Ukraine carried out an attack on a command post, a surface-to-air missile system, 12 strikes in areas of concentration of personnel and equipment, weapons, and military hardware, as well as two — on enemy radio stations. Also, our defenders destroyed one enemy combat drone.

Subunits of rocket forces inflicted damage to a command post, an area of concentration of personnel and equipment, weapons, and military hardware, nine artillery systems, and two enemy radio stations.

Estimated losses of the enemy during the past day totaled: 480 occupiers, six tanks, eight armored combat vehicles, 40 artillery systems, four MLRS, eight tactical-level drones, 38 cruise missiles, 20 vehicles and one unit of special equipment.
