At the previous stage, the white-blue ousted Greek "Olympiacos," so they advanced to the playoff round of qualification, where their opponent was "Besiktas." The nominal home match for "Dynamo" was once again held in Bucharest. The main squad issue for Kyiv was the absence of Yarmolenko.

The first half-hour of play was even. In "Dynamo," one can highlight Vana's inaccurate shot from a free kick, while "Besiktas" had an excellent attack with Abubakar scoring with his heel, which Búyalski pulled off. Later, Vana hit the post from outside the penalty area. The Turks ended the first half better and managed to open the score. A handball by Popov in the penalty area led to a penalty kick that Abubakar converted. 0:1.

The second half began with a goal for "Dynamo": Dubynchak's cross was intercepted by an opponent, but the ball rebounded to Karavaev, who scored with his second touch. However, the referee, using VAR, canceled the goal against "Besiktas" due to offside. Nevertheless, at the 60th minute, the Ukrainians equalized: Búyalski launched Karavaev down the flank, and he passed to Shaparenko on the penalty spot, who scored with a touch shot past Güneş. 1:1.

The Turks quickly scored again — Collin headed in from a corner kick. 1:2. But "Dynamo" equalized right away when Dubynchak sent Búyalski into the penalty area, and he delivered an accurate cross for Volosin's header. 2:2.

Subsequently, the teams exchanged shots from distance by Vana and Rosse. Then Timchik was brought down in the box but Güneş saved. "Besiktas" responded with a dangerous attack by Fernandes, who dribbled past Syrota, but Bushchan denied him. Late in the match, Búyalski had two good chances; however, he shot wide of the post in one instance and his shot was parried by Güneş in another.

In stoppage time, Sidorchuk took a decent free kick from outside the penalty area but the goalkeeper saved it. In contrast, "Besiktas" managed to launch an effective attack, scoring their third goal and securing victory. 2:3.
