The Ukrainian Football Association sent a letter to UEFA and the Hellenic Football Federation regarding an incident during a match in the Conference League involving Kyiv's «Dynamo», which took place on August 10.

"We were compelled to address this due to an offensive and dangerous incident that occurred during the recent third qualifying round match of the UEFA Conference League between FC «Aris» (Greece) and FC «Dynamo» (Ukraine). A provocative banner addressed to the defenders of 'Azovstal' was displayed on the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium (Thessaloniki, Greece) reading 'Smash Azov nazis' («Destroy Azov Nazis»), which was visible in the match broadcast.

We assume that the banner was made by local ultras who are in contact with Russian fan movements, as the message on the banner fully aligns with Russian propaganda. The mentioned banner was removed from the stands approximately 10 minutes later. However, this incident greatly concerns us because it is a dangerous signal of a deeply false perception of tragic events in Ukraine and an example of unacceptable violence-promoting propaganda within UEFA competitions for football families. The defenders of 'Azovstal', also known as the 'Azov' battalion of the Ukrainian army, have no connection to Nazis or anyone from Ukrainian society, but this is a narrative that Russian propaganda spreads around the world.

We request UEFA and colleagues at the Hellenic Football Federation to carefully consider the described episode and find ways to take strict measures against violators as well as preventive measures to prevent such incidents in the future," — specifically, this is stated in the letter from the UAF.
