To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 2, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and twentieth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our country has begun.

Forces of the Ukrainian Defense are continuing offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdyansk fronts. They are consolidating on the lines they have reached. The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower, weapons, and equipment. At the same time, the adversary continues to put up strong resistance, moves units and troops, and engages reserves.

On the Bakhmut front, our forces are continuing offensive actions south of the city of Bakhmut. During these operations, the enemy was forced to retreat from positions in the southern area of Andriyivka. Occupants unsuccessfully tried to restore their lost position north and west of Klishchyvka as well as northwest of Kurdyumovka. Heavy fighting continues.

During the night of August 2, 2023, Russian occupation forces attacked Ukraine with Iranian Shahed strike drones from three directions — Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (rf) as well as Chauda (temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea).

With anti-aircraft defense, the Forces of Defense of Ukraine destroyed 23 strike UAVs.

Most "Shaheds" were shot down in Kyiv and Odesa regions. Unfortunately, some of the drones launched by the enemy damaged port infrastructure in the Odesa region.

During the past day, the enemy carried out one missile strike, 75 air strikes, and conducted 68 shelling with multiple rocket launchers on our troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties among the affected population.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.

During the past day, more than 40 combat engagements took place.

On the Volyn and Polesie fronts, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky fronts, the enemy carried out an air strike in the area of Sopicha, Sumy region, conducted mortar and artillery shelling on more than 25 populated areas. Among these are Zalizhnyy Mist, Halyaganyvka Chernihiv region; Shpil, Yunakiivka, Atynske, Basivka, Rozhkovychi Sumy region as well as Udi, Kozacha Lopan', Petro-Pavlivka, Nesterne and Stroyivka in Kharkiv region.

On the Kupiansk front, artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected Topoli, Kamianka, Figolivka, Dvorychyna, Zapadne, Kupyansk and Kislivka Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman front, artillery shelling affected populated areas of Nevskiy, Bihorivka Luhansk region as well as Torske, Verkhnyokamyanske, Spirene and Rozdolyvka — Donetsk.

On the Bakhmut front, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore their lost position north and west of Klishchyvka in Donetsk region. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, among them Bogdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Orhihovo-Vasilivka, Ivanivske and Bila Hora in Donetsk region.

On the Avdiyivka front, under intense air and artillery fire from the enemy, our defenders successfully repelled Russian troops' attacks near Avdiyivka. Over 10 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling, including Avdiyivka, Perevomayske, Karlivka, Nevel'ske and Novobakhmutivka in Donetsk region.

On the Marinka front, Forces of Defense continue to hold back Russian troops' advance near the town of Marinka. The enemy carried out an air strike near Krasnogorovka. Conducted shelling on over 15 populated areas, among them Krasnogorovka, Zoriaane, Marinka, Pobeda and Gostre in Donetsk region.

On the Shakhtarsk front, the enemy carried out air strikes near Blagodatnyy and Staromayorskoye in Donetsk region. Unsuccessfully tried to restore their lost position east of Staromayorskoye. Over 15 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling, including Vuhledar, Vodyane, Blagodatne and Zolotaya Niva in Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhya front, the enemy is concentrating its efforts to prevent further advance of our troops. The adversary carried out an air strike near Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhya region. Over 15 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling, including Novodarivka, Bihor'ya, Orikhiv and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhya region.

On the Kherson front, over 10 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling, among them Sadove, Tokaryvka, Kozatske, Antonivka, Mykhailivka and city of Kherson.

In border regions with Ukraine in the Kursk region, a curfew has been introduced from 21.00 to 06.00. The manpower of units and subunits of the covering group of the Russian Federation was prohibited from leaving their positions and deployment areas without prior approval by command.

In the populated area of Kakhovka, Kherson region, occupiers with the use of special equipment tried to identify among local residents those who cooperate with the Forces of Defense of Ukraine. Thus, on July 30, the oppressors spread information that troops would be withdrawn from the specified populated area the next day. Mobile communication was turned off at 01:00 and Internet access was cut off. From 01:00 to 04:00, trucks and cars were moving through the streets to create an impression of a large-scale movement of equipment. At the same time, special vehicles with radio direction finders were driving around the city.

Aviation of the Forces of Defense carried out eight strikes against areas where enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment are concentrated during the past day, one — on a command post and one — on an air defense missile system of occupiers.

Subunits of rocket troops and artillery over the past day damaged 14 artillery systems at firing positions, four radio-electronic warfare stations, four control points, one area where weapons and military equipment are concentrated, six anti-aircraft defense means, three areas where manpower is concentrated, one ammunition depot and two other important enemy targets.

Overall during the past day our soldiers liquidated 540 Russian occupiers. The enemy lost one tank, eight armored combat vehicles, 27 artillery systems, one MLRS, one air defense system, 15 tactical-level UAVs and 25 cars.
