The head coach of the Ukrainian beach soccer team, Mykola Kostenko, spoke about the future plans for our team in light of the cancellation of the II World Beach Games.

The men's national beach soccer team of Ukraine won a place at the 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last week. After this, the blue-and-yellow team had planned to participate in the II World Beach Games, which were scheduled for August 5–12, 2023, on Bali. However, the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) announced that due to Indonesia's refusal to host the event, it would be canceled.

The head coach of Ukraine's national team, Mykola Kostenko, commented on this decision and shared possible plans for the team in the near future.

"We cannot say that this came as a shock to us, but it is very, very disappointing. We did so much work to qualify for these games. We went through a tough selection process for the tournament and prepared for it, but now there's nothing we can do about it. As they say, we have what we have."

Given this fact, players in the national team will work somewhat differently going forward. In the near future, there won't be a targeted training process, and the boys will prepare for further competitions in their respective clubs. Soon, matches of the top league and Kyiv's Extraliga will begin. There will be games on weekends as well as mid-week, so players in the national team will have an intensive game schedule plus additional training sessions. Therefore, there is no need for special training camps at this time.

This year, we still have the Euroleague to look forward to, and BSWW wants to make both the selection and the Super Final one tournament, one event. Although due to the cancellation of the World Beach Games, there may be changes in plans. Generally speaking, regarding the timing and format of the Euroleague-2023, we still do not have detailed information at this point. We will have to wait a week or two,"— said Mykola Kostenko.
