President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about work on an aviation coalition for our country and rescue operations in Sloviansk, Donetsk region.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today I spoke with Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
First and foremost, I am grateful to him and all world leaders who condemned the beastly murder of our soldier, a murder that occupiers used to cover up their crimes.
Occupants feel what it means when the world condemns them.
We discussed with Prime Minister Sunak weapons for our soldiers—the supplies agreed upon with Britain, which will help our active actions and just actions. We also talked about accelerating deliveries…
The farther-reaching our Ukrainian actions are, the sooner Russian atrocities will end.
Of course, we continue to work on an aviation coalition for Ukraine, preparing various international events that will give us more strength and protection in Europe.
Today I chaired a meeting about Euro-Atlantic integration, about the inevitability of combining Ukraine's potential with NATO. A meaningful meeting: Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, government officials—the deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration and foreign affairs minister—foreign policy block of the Office…
Clearly, Ukraine’s place is in NATO, a rightful place. And I do not want outdated illusions that still hold back our alliance membership to continue wasting time for us and our partners now. We are developing appropriate steps.
Today I chaired a meeting about restoring our country—restoration after combat actions. First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov and the recovery team…
We discussed infrastructure, economy, and many other issues that require serious answers. We are working both within the country and with partners to ensure systemic restoration, so that the results meet our society's high expectations. I am confident we will do everything.
Throughout the day, I was in contact with military personnel, chaired a meeting with Security Service of Ukraine head Maluk, and held a meeting with GUR chief Budanov.
The key is constant destruction of occupiers, this 'minus' of their logistics and any potential on occupied territories, preparation for our active actions, counter-offensive work. And I thank all our soldiers who ensure this, who remember that each Russian strike on our cities and villages, on our positions, each murder of Ukrainians must result in maximum felt losses for the occupier. Every meter of Ukrainian land should mean for the occupier an inevitable loss for Russia in this war, no prospects for the enemy on Ukrainian soil.
14th Brigade and 1st Presidential Operational Purpose Brigade of National Guard—thank you boys for your resilience! 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa, 5th Separate Assault Brigade, 77th Separate Airborne Brigade—young warriors! Holding the defense in Donetsk now is the hardest. But this gives life to all Ukraine.
Rescue operations are currently underway in Sloviansk, Donetsk region. Another terrorist attack. S-300 missiles hit residential areas and ordinary civilian infrastructure. People are under rubble. Everything is being done to save them, everything is being done to save the injured. There are initial reports of fatalities. My condolences to those who lost loved ones.
No hour of this week before Easter passed without Russian killings and terror. This is a state of evil, and it is losing. To defeat it—this is our duty towards humanity as such. And we will defeat it!
And one more thing. Something that needs to be resolved long ago. The life of Mikheil Saakashvili now depends not on political but purely ethical decision… With a clean and weighty legal basis. If a person needs medical help, if their life is at stake, then this step is necessary. I know that Mikheil's lawyers have filed an urgent appeal to the ECHR to ensure him proper treatment. And it seems to be the only way to save his life.
Thank you all who stand against evil with Ukraine! Glory to all our soldiers fighting for the country and people!
Glory to Ukraine!"
