President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the only way to stop Russian terror and marking the anniversary of Kyiv's liberation from occupying forces.
"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!
Today, Russian terrorists struck again in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. On residential neighborhoods. Six people were killed by this Russian shelling. Three women and three men. Ordinary people from an ordinary town on the Donbas. My condolences to relatives and loved ones of those who died...
Eleven more people were injured. Russia used S-300 missiles and «Uragan» multiple rocket launcher systems against Kostiantynivka.
This morning, Russian terrorists also struck the Konotop district of Sumy region with mortar fire. Two people were killed. My condolences to all relatives, loved ones, and families...
These are just a few examples from dozens of strikes in a day. There is only one way to stop Russian terror and restore security to our cities and communities—from Sumy region to Donbas, from Kharkiv region to Kherson region, from Kyiv region to Yalta. And that path is Ukraine's military victory. No other path exists or will exist.
A state of evil, for which it has become normal to hit residential buildings with «Uragans», launch S-300 missiles at cities, shell ordinary villages and people... A state of evil must be destroyed. In every sense of the word. Russian fascism must go through a complete defeat—military, economic, political, legal. The first point is military. And it will.
I thank everyone who is bringing this time closer! I thank our soldiers fighting under Avdiivka, Mariinka, and Bakhmut. Especially in Bakhmut! It's particularly hot there today! Under Bilohorivka, Kreminna, and all other towns and villages of Donbas! The resilience of each one of us is the resilience of Ukraine as a whole, helping those on neighboring positions is helping all of Ukraine!
I especially want to thank the 77th separate aeromobile brigade, the 67th and 92nd separate mechanized brigades, our «eighty» paratroopers, the 5th separate storm brigade... Thank you, boys!
Marines of the 35th and 36th brigades, artillerymen of the 55th separate brigade, the 64th and 66th separate howitzer battalions of the 406th artillery brigade... Thank you, soldiers!
I thank everyone who is protecting Zaporizhzhia, Kherson region, the Dnipropetrovsk direction, Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions... Everyone who protects our border. Who saves our people from injuries and pain.
I want to especially thank everyone who trains our soldiers because it is on strong training that successful combat results are based.
Today, April 2nd, we mark the anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region from Russian forces. On April 2nd, the last occupier fled the territory of Kyiv region.
There will come a day when we will say that the last occupier has fled or been killed in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and throughout our south. Free and safe again will be Crimea. Ukraine will return everything that is hers.
Next week will be particularly important for our defense and movement towards victory. We are already preparing for planned events and decisions.
The main thing now is to preserve our unity, care about our defenders, help each other and the state.
Glory to all who fight today for Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!»
