In the W6 group of the second qualifying round for Euro 2023, Serhiy Sapronov's protégés secured their first step. The Ukrainian women managed to win against Bulgaria (2:1) and Latvia (5:0). After the second match, players from our national team shared their emotions.
"The team prepared for this game, we were set on winning because we needed to return to League A. This was our only option. We are very happy with such a score. The coaches gave us instructions and showed how to play. We gathered together and repeated what they had shown us,"— said Anastasiia Zhigadlo.
"We prepared for this match, knowing that Latvia would be stronger than Bulgaria. But we played until the end, showed our character, our game, achieved our goal. In the first half, we were a bit unlucky, but we got what we wanted in the second. This victory is for all Ukrainians, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for the whole country at such a difficult time,"— noted Liudmyla Zaburovets.
"We analyzed the opponent's team theoretically and were prepared for everything. We are very happy because we worked hard. I want to greet the team and all of Ukraine,"— shared her emotions Dina Borovska.

As a reminder, Ukraine's women's national team finished last in their group during the first round and was relegated to League B.
In League A, 28 teams compete in seven groups, including seven teams that were promoted from League B based on the results of the first round. Seven group winners of the second round in League A (and the best runner-up if Estonia finishes first in their group) will qualify for the final stage, matches of which will take place between May 14 and 26.
