President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about a detailed meeting with all those overseeing various aspects of state defense, and the need to pay attention to cities and regions that face Russian shelling day and night.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today I held several crucial meetings.
At the energy meeting, everyone responsible for the stability of our power system participated. This was a lengthy meeting — three hours long.
Energy companies: "Naftogaz", "Energoatom", "Ukrainian Energy", "Hydroenergy of Ukraine", and others. The government. Office. Head of the relevant committee in parliament. Military. Intelligence.
This winter has passed. It was very difficult, and everyone felt this difficulty without exaggeration. But we managed to ensure Ukraine with energy and warmth.
Yes, the threat to our power system remains. But work for the sake of the power system continues.
At today's energy meeting, we recorded current tasks to properly conclude this heating season. And we have already started preparing for the next season — each participant in the meeting received their part of the work concerning this. We see risks – we will find responses.
I also held a long, detailed meeting with all those overseeing various aspects of state defense today. Military, SBU, GUR, foreign intelligence, MVS, other government officials, Office.
Every front-line direction is under control. "Khortytsia", "Tavria", "Odessa", "North" — there were reports on the situation over the day.
In addition to direct frontline directions, attention is also given to near-frontline territories. Those cities and regions that face Russian shelling every day and night. Deliberate terror. Nikopol and other communities in Dnipropetrovsk region, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and the region, the frontline part of Donbas, Kharkiv and the region, Sumy and Chernihiv.
Right now, on most of our country's territory where relative safety has been achieved, it may not be felt how life is for those people in near-border areas with Russia, those in the south of our state. There, where shelling occurs. Where people are not on the front lines but still directly at war. Where Russia constantly tries to destroy everything that belongs to people. Constantly — and this is no exaggeration.
When we prepare active actions of our military forces, all our defense and security forces, we have in mind that such active actions will gradually bring safety to those who are currently in the near-frontline zone.
Every move of our flag forward means securing our people. And on territories that will be liberated from the occupier. And on territories that will become deeper rear areas. And on border regions where defeating the occupier will finally bring peace.
Thank you to everyone who is ready to help our country in further active actions! Thank you each and every one of you in our defense and security forces, who are already preparing!
And I thank those who, despite all threats and dangers, do everything possible to maintain normal life in near-frontline areas of Ukraine, cities and communities that face Russian strikes! This includes the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, police forces, our social and administrative services, local authorities, responsible businesses, of course – volunteers who help people and the state.
Special thanks to our border guards and all other soldiers who hold back the enemy! And special thanks to those of our soldiers who destroy enemy firing points, who disrupt the enemy's logistics, and accurately lead Russia to defeat.
To an inevitable defeat.
Glory to all who are now fighting for Ukraine!
Eternal memory and respect to every one who gave their life for the independence of our state!
Glory to Ukraine!"
