President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the need to go into all regions of the world where our position is still insufficiently represented and about clear support from European institutions and European leaders regarding our EU membership.
"I wish you good health, dear Ukrainians!
Today was a very busy day – both internally with defense and security issues and externally in foreign policy.
Held the General Staff meeting. Listened to reports from commanders of sectors, Chief Commander, intelligence leaders. Defense of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, southern parts of our country, Odessa and region. Constant attention – to weapons supply, ammunition, and everything that adds strength and resilience to our soldiers.
Today I presented new heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and Ministry of Internal Affairs – Vasyl Maliuk and Ihor Klymenko. I am confident that both are in their rightful places. Where they truly benefit the state. Thanked them for being on the front lines from day one, alongside their colleagues. They already have significant results in defending our country, and they will certainly achieve even greater accomplishments in their new positions.
Spoke today with Norway’s Prime Minister. This country is one of our largest partners. Thanked for the new defense package and a new unprecedented support program from Norway that is being prepared for approval and is aimed at five years – stable support for Ukraine.
Norway truly helps us strengthen ourselves on land, in air, and at sea. Thousands of Ukrainian lives were saved thanks to timely and powerful Norwegian aid. But also important are the energy, political, and other support from our Norwegian friends. Thank you again for all this help!
Spoke with newly elected President of Cyprus. Congratulated on election victory. Discussed relations between our countries and agreed to work together for mutual security – of our countries and all of Europe.
For the first time in bilateral history, I spoke today with the President of the Philippines. Thanked for support in international organizations, and we agreed to develop our relations.
This is extremely important for Ukraine – to have meaningful relations with all regions of Southeast Asia and each country in this region. We will continue appropriate movement.
Overall, Ukrainian diplomacy has a clear task – to go into all world regions where our position is still insufficiently represented, to make Ukraine and Ukrainian interests understandable for all those states and peoples with whom we do not yet have stable ties. This applies both to Asian directions as well as Africa and Latin America.
Today I held a meeting with the international government bloc and Office regarding interim results of our diplomatic marathon.
Our activity now – is very high. Almost every day there are new agreements. Last week was especially powerful. But most important — for each agreement to quickly turn into specific supply for our defense, in concrete interaction between states, in specific signed documents.
We reached an important understanding with the UK regarding long-range weapons and the need to speed up tank delivery. We have a good agreement on artillery and ammunition. We have full mutual understanding of positions concerning modern combat aviation. And I thank all our British friends, especially Prime Minister Sunak for starting work, particularly in the aviation direction.
Strong meetings were also our talks in Paris with President Macron and Chancellor Scholz. We spoke very openly in three, which allowed us to find common understanding regarding prospects in this war. I think it will greatly ease resolution of defense issues. We have a shared vision of the path to victory. And separately, I want to thank Mr. President and Mr. Chancellor for consolidated support of our European integration.
The visit to Brussels became such as never before in history of our relations with EU. For the first time – such attention to Ukraine, for the first time – meeting immediately with all leaders of Europe plus a series of talks with European leaders — maximally dynamic, meaningful and devoid of empty politicization. With each leader we discussed purely those things that are important for our relations and for the European community in general. There was no idle talk. I thank everyone for this.
Especially note talks with Poland. With President Duda – when I was already returning to Ukraine. And there was also a separate meeting with Prime Minister Morawiecki in Brussels. We discussed tanks and other weapons for land defense, planes and other means of air defense. Discussed the situation in the region overall, prospects this year... As always, we have full mutual understanding with Polish brothers.
And very important – we have clear support from European institutions and European leaders regarding our goal to prepare and start EU membership negotiations already this year.
Now more than ever, it is felt that Ukrainian European goals are becoming a reality. When real achievements are noticeably greater than political declarations. For decades Ukraine and the EU have been moving towards this.
These weeks our diplomatic marathon continues. Tomorrow – another "Ramstein". Preparing. And working so that all of our talks reflect in defense decisions by partners both at "Ramstein" and before February 24th.
Scheduled and new bilateral negotiations and meetings. Preparing. And making such intensity of diplomatic work a new minimum norm for Ukraine.
I thank everyone who works for our state! I thank everyone who helps!
I thank every soldier, every woman in battle! Thank you to each and every one of our soldiers who do not let the occupier encircle Bakhmut, who destroy the enemy on the Vuhledar direction leaving nothing but scorched earth for the occupier, and who hold other key front positions.
Based on these days' results I highlight fighters of 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade, and 81st Airmobile Brigade, who are exceptionally defending Luhansk region. And soldiers of the 5th Independent Assault Regiment, heroically defending Donetsk region. Thank you all, boys!
Remember: every new result for Ukraine – shortens time to victory.
In the evening signed decrees on awarding our soldiers. State awards were awarded to 186 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Glory to Ukraine!"
