New head coach of Malta's national team Michele Marcolini spoke at a special press conference about his vision for the game and set the main goal.
The new coach of Malta, which is Ukraine's opponent in Euro 2024 qualification, Michele Marcolini, was introduced to the media during a press conference in Ta'Kali. This was reported by the official website of the Malta Football Association.
The 47-year-old Italian specialist, among other things, said: "I am very proud to have been appointed head coach of Malta's national team. I think it is a challenging task to get the most out of players who have significantly raised their level recently."
"I will definitely rely on the good work done by my predecessor, but I intend to implement some of my ideas in order, hopefully, to further improve the game."
My first goal is to strengthen the team with real values such as education, respect and self-sacrifice. A team built on these will play better and demonstrate aggression and determination needed for success.
Despite never having been a national team coach before, one has to start somewhere. However, over the years of my football career, I have gained experience both off and on the field, which will help me earn recognition from local fans."
Recall that on October 9 in Frankfurt am Main, the draw for Euro 2024 qualification took place, according to which Ukraine's national team ended up in Group C, where they will face Italy, England, North Macedonia and Malta. At home against Malta, blue-and-yellow will play on June 19, while away — on October 17, 2023.
