Lviv football players were the only ones who managed to cover the distance without losses. However, in the 5th round, as they say, a weed hit a stone. Green-and-whites conceded at home to "Epitsentru."
Since events in the first league are unfolding such that these clubs will finish in the bottom quartet next year fighting for promotion, it seems that the Galicians have lost crucial points.
And they are mostly to blame themselves, as at the start they missed several opportunities, including veteran Denis Kozhanov failing to score from close range against the visiting goalkeeper. Then an old rule came into play: waste your chances and expect trouble. The home team's goalkeeper Roman Lypka passed the ball directly to Podillya's Maxim Hryhorenko, who took advantage of this gift by scoring under the crossbar. 0-1. And shortly after, perseverance betrayed experienced Dmytro Makhyov, who committed a foul in his penalty area, and the unrepentant Hryhorenko, incidentally a former "Karpaty" player, outsmarted Lypka with a successful penalty kick. 0-2.
After halftime, the players of Serhiy Nagorniak confidently repelled Lviv's attacks and secured their deserved victory, overtaking them in the league table by tiebreakers.
And leadership in Group A was seized by "Polesye," which today overcame the resistance of outsider "Bukovyna" — 2-0. Notable were Bogdan Kushnirenko and Denis Yanakov.
The leader of Group B, "Obolon," also suffered its first defeat. The culprit for the "brewers" was "Hirnyk-Sport," which, as a reminder, suffered an unexpected loss in Kremenchuk — 0-7. It seems that the players from Goryshni Plavni got on their coach Igor Zhabchenko's nerves, because they showed solidity against Kyivans. And for their resilience, they were rewarded with a crucial victory after Oleg Syomka and Vladyslav Shinkarenko's strikes — 2-0.
Osychko of "Obolon" was taken advantage of today by the players of "LNZ," who, following their head coach Yurii Bakalov's dismissal, have already secured three consecutive victories (2-0) and now lead the league table by tiebreakers.
