"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!
Today marks the end of events in New York during Ukraine's participation in this year's session of the UN General Assembly.
This was a productive week for Ukraine. Many different activities took place — under my leadership, First Lady of Ukraine, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
Ukraine demonstrated that not only is truth on our side, but also strength, initiative, and certainty in victory. The world always finely senses such things. Who is truly strong, and who pretends to be strong. Who genuinely feels their own power, and who desperately tries to hide weakness and uncertainty.
Ukraine proposed a peace formula at the UN General Assembly, our path towards stabilizing international relations. And this was clearly heard by the world. The reaction to my speech at the UN General Assembly — completely positive.
Different countries equally wanted to hear specifics. Specifics about how to restore peace and end this war. Ukraine presented its vision. Clear, logical, fair, and realistic.
Five points. First: punishment for the aggressor. Second: protection of life, that is, all necessary assistance to our country in defense. The third point: restoring security and territorial integrity. Fourth point: security guarantees. And fifth: determination to achieve all this together with us — the determination of a global majority.
And what did Russia present? Once again, short excuses, complaints, and constant lying propaganda that the world has long grown tired of but Russian representatives still repeat. A clear contrast with us.
I am grateful to all leaders of countries, politicians, civic activists, cultural and business leaders who expressed support for Ukraine at the UN General Assembly and throughout events in America this week.
In particular, I participated in a special meeting on food security. This is one of the key topics at the UN this year — Russian aggression has made it so urgent. The world seeks ways to protect people from hunger and price crises, and Ukraine has something to offer. We are constantly increasing our food exports, we help the World Food Programme, sending grain as humanitarian aid to countries in need — Ethiopia, Somalia. And never, ever did Ukraine provoke any crises on the food market. The world appreciates this.
Thanks to Ukraine's orderliness and constructive desire of our country to help others, we have an uninterrupted result: Russian propaganda is losing influence even in parts of the world where we still need to secure strong information positions — especially in countries of the Global South. This includes Latin America, Africa, Southern Asia.
Also this week I participated in several important investor dialogue formats. Forbes summit — gathering of some of the largest businesspeople in the world who engage in philanthropy. Video conference with representatives of BlackRock and Goldman Sachs — major global players. The Clinton Global Initiative. Each such event adds attention to Ukraine, specific projects for our country's benefit, strengthens our resilience, brings us closer to victory.
First Lady of Ukraine met in New York with Liz Truss — the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and this was a very substantive meeting. With First Lady of France Brigitte Macron. Together with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. In total she conducted almost 20 meetings.
At Charles Michel's invitation Olena took part in the Women in Conflict forum, which took place on the General Assembly platform. Presented a special philanthropic fund, the Olena Zelenska Foundation, to accumulate even more support for Ukrainians — especially humanitarian aid — foremost education, healthcare, restoring what was destroyed by Russian strikes. We are creating all necessary institutional foundations so that everyone in the world can help us as effectively, quickly and reliably as possible.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine held dozens of high-level meetings. The accents were clear. Situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP. Expanding military, financial, and sanctions support. Support for our country's winter preparations, reconstruction support. At each meeting there was an emphasis on the fact that Russian terror must receive a clear global response — military, economic, legal, including recognition of Russia as a sponsor of terrorism.
We presented in New York our proposals regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe and the world — a project worked out by the Yermak-Rasmussen group. Also meetings took place with Denys Shmyhal with leaders of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, other financial and investment majors around the world. Grateful to everyone for support!
It is important to note talks with Japan's Prime Minister — a country that will soon vote in the "Group of Seven" and Security Council. Discussed our priorities. Talks took place with Iraq's Prime Minister — this is a new partner for Ukraine, an important partner.
The Foreign Minister held over 30 meetings, and most of them were with representatives of countries that are not traditional partners for us. Strengthening positions in relations with Africa, Asia, Latin America.
Undoubtedly, this is the most meaningful and positive participation of Ukraine in the UN General Assembly since our independence. The world does not just talk about Ukraine but has realized that by helping Ukraine it helps solve urgent global problems and crises. We propose a path to make the world more stable and secure. This was heard by the world.
A very important event took place today in Izium, Kharkiv Oblast. Representatives of almost twenty diplomatic missions — countries of the Baltic region and Eastern Europe, Germany, France, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, EU Ambassador — saw with their own eyes what Russian occupiers left behind. Destroyed houses, mass graves... The world will know full information about every crime Russia committed on temporarily occupied territories.
Absolutely rightly the world reacts to pseudo-referendums as well — they will be unequivocally condemned and to criminal mobilization that occupiers are now trying to conduct in Crimea and other parts of Ukraine under their control. This is not just crimes against international law and Ukraine's rights. These are crimes against specific people, against a nation.
Now in Crimea, in places of compact residence of Crimean Tatars, they are trying to find and mobilize as many men as possible. We already have evidence of this. This is a deliberate attempt by Russia to destroy the Crimean Tatar people, a deliberate attempt by an aggressor state to take lives from as many residents of the territory as it can.
I have a simple request for all our people who are in temporarily occupied territories: do what is most important — protect your life and help us weaken and destroy occupiers.
In any way possible, avoid Russian mobilization. Avoid conscription notices. Try to leave for free Ukrainian territory.
But if you end up in the Russian army, then sabotage any enemy activity, hinder all Russian operations, provide us with all important information about occupiers — their bases, headquarters, ammunition depots. And at your first opportunity switch sides to our positions. Do everything possible to save lives and help liberate Ukraine.
Since the beginning of active actions on the eastern front in September, we have liberated almost 9 thousand square kilometers of territory, nearly 400 populated areas. This significant result was achieved not only thanks to our military efforts but also because people in temporarily occupied territories are helping us. Please do everything possible to increase such help.
Provide our security services with all information about those who organize and assist in conducting these farces of pseudo-referendums. Provide all information about Russian mobilization, the Russian army in general. Help those in occupied areas who need it — elderly people, singles, families with children. Ukraine will return to its entire land, and we must save as many of our people there as possible.
At my request, Head of Office Andriy Yermak held a meeting today on assistance to Ukrainians who have been freed from captivity. Representatives of the SBU, National Guard, ministers of internal affairs, defense, health care, social policy, MFA representatives, our ombudsman were present. Our soldiers must receive everything necessary, real help, any support. The state knows how to be grateful to its heroes. I await a report at the beginning of the week with a specific plan for supporting each person.
Today Iranian drones were used in attacks on Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions by Russian army. I instructed MFA to respond harshly to this fact. The world will know about every act of collaboration with evil, and it will have consequences.
Decisions have already been made to revoke the accreditation of Iran's Ambassador in Ukraine and significantly reduce the number of diplomatic staff at the Iranian Embassy.
Six of these Iranian drones were shot down by our air defense units "East" and "South". Another was brought down by anti-aircraft defenses of naval forces. In addition, with efforts from Air Command "Center", today in southern Ukraine a Russian attack aircraft and helicopter were shot down. And just now I was informed about another Iranian strike drone being shot down by the South command's air defense.
Thank you for your accuracy!
Thank you to everyone who is fighting and working for Ukraine's victory!
Grateful to all around the world who are helping us defend life and freedom!
Glory to Ukraine!"
