As is traditional, the annual charitable match for the Lviv Cup took place at the Lviv stadium "Skif" between the veterans' team of FC "Karpaty" and a team of journalists from Ukraine.

The main goal of this third such charitable match was to help children from Eastern Ukraine engage in sports.

The organizers of the event were the news agency Center News, the Ukrainian Football Association, FC "Karpaty", and the Lviv Football Association.

The general sponsor of the match was the Lviv bakery complex "Kulinichi".

Before the start of the game, the first deputy head of the Lviv Football Association, Yaroslav Hrysyoh, addressed both teams with a welcoming speech.

" Despite the war with the aggressor, each of us at our own place is doing everything to help our Armed Forces win as quickly as possible so that the children we are welcoming today have a future. Thank you to everyone who has joined this event. Glory to the Armed Forces! Glory to our children! Glory to Ukraine!"— said Hrysyoh.

In turn, Vladimir Mysyk, representing the general sponsor of the match, the Lviv bakery complex "Kulinichi", noted that businesspeople, legends of Ukrainian football, and journalists are doing a charitable deed because there will be no winners in this game, but children from Eastern Ukraine will achieve victory.

"Dear teams, dear children, welcome to the third charitable match for the Lviv Cup! I represent the company 'Kulinichi', which is about to open a new factory on the Lviv region. Over 3,000 workers will be employed at the new enterprise, including internally displaced persons. It's great that in such difficult times businesspeople, journalists, legends of Ukrainian football, and respected veterans of 'Karpaty' are uniting with one goal — to help children from internally displaced families engage in sports so they can forget about war even a little bit and have a happy future. I congratulate you on this event! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!"— said Mysyk.

In turn, the chief editor of the news agency Center News, Olga Vitak, conveyed greetings from the president of the UFA, UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelka and first vice-president of the UFA Vadim Kostyuchenko to both teams and children, as well as gratitude and a football jersey of the journalists' team — to Vladimir Mysyk.

The match began with the Ukrainian National Anthem performed by a local singer and participant of the show "X-Factor", Viktoriya Zhyablitskaya.

To cheer for their teams came children from the Luhansk Children's Home, who are currently temporarily staying in Lviv's Children's Home No. 1, as well as children from the rehabilitation center "Mirage" and received football gear, sports equipment, and sweet gifts from the general sponsor, organizers, and partners of the match.

The Lviv Cup-2022 became a rematch for both teams. Last year, the victory was celebrated by the veterans of FC "Karpaty", while in 2018, the journalists' team managed to defeat Ukrainian football legends on penalties.

In the first half, the forces were equal; Karpaty players impressed with their skill, and the journalists had several chances. First, Vadim Drobashko tried to score against "Karpaty", then former player of "Karpaty" and "Arsenal" Maxim Feshchuk from a corner kick hit the goal of Bogdan Strontsitsky.

In addition, Feshchuk helped journalists score their second goal with an excellent pass to his opponent's penalty area. He passed the ball to Bogdan Pasternak who took advantage of the opportunity and closed the pass.

The veterans were not discouraged for long, and soon Vladimir Ushtan scored in a beautiful leap. Later on, Karpaty celebrated another goal — Konstantin Derevlov scored against journalists. The intrigue of the match was maintained until the last minutes, with both teams delighting spectators with two more goals. First, Maxim Feshchuk, who played for "Karpaty" in the second half, scored a goal against the journalists. Then Dmitry Sheyanov equalized the score.

The outcome of the match was decided by a series of post-match penalties where luck favored representatives of the media — goalkeeper Yaroslav Tvardovsky saved two shots from Ukrainian football legends.

In conclusion, the winner of the Lviv Cup-2022 became the journalists' team of Ukraine.
