General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: operational information regarding the Russian invasion (as of 06:00 20.09.2022)

Note for Your Attention — Operational Information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on September 20, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and ninety day of heroic resistance of the Ukrainian nation against the Russian large-scale invasion has begun.

The enemy continues to concentrate efforts on fully occupying Donetsk Oblast, organizing defense and holding onto seized territories, as well as halting active actions by the Defense Forces on certain fronts. They are shelling our positions along the line of contact, regrouping their troops, and constantly conducting aerial reconnaissance.

Over the past day, Russian occupiers carried out 10 rocket and 15 air strikes, conducted over 56 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems on objects within Ukraine's territory, violating international humanitarian law, laws of war, and customs of warfare.

As a result of Russian shelling over the past day, infrastructure in more than 33 populated areas was damaged. Among these are Slavgorod, Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, Mayor'ske, Vodyane, Dorozhne, Sverdlovsk, Novopetrovka, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Oleksandrivka, Snihurivka, Nova Odessa, Shyrokyne, Bilohirsk, Mirolyubivka and Bila Krinitsa.

There remains a threat of enemy air and missile strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine.

On the Volynian and Polesian fronts, the situation has not changed.

On other fronts, the enemy carried out shelling with tanks, mortars, and various types of artillery:

on the Northern front — in the areas of the populated places Mykolaivka Chernihiv Oblast and Novovasylivka, Slavgorod and Riasne Sumy Oblast;

on the Slobodian front — in the areas of the populated places Kozacha Lopan', Shevchenkove, Derhachi, Kamianka, Strilecha, Hliboke and Dvoriche;

on the Kramatorsk front — Oleksandrivka, Donetskoe, Raihorodok, Shchurove, Kriva Luka, Ozerne, Bihorivka, Pryshyb, Hryhoriivka and Seversk;

on the Bakhmut front — Mayor'ske, Mykolaivka, Verkhnyokamyanske, Sverdlovsk, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, Otradivka, Vesele, Viimykha, Mykolaivka Second, New York, Bihorivka, Yur'ivka, Spirene, Zaytseve and Yakovlivka;

on the Avdiyivka front — Krasnogorivka, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka and Pereval'ske.

On the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhia fronts, the enemy did not conduct active operations. From artillery shelling on these fronts, populated areas such as Vuhledar, Velika Novosilka, Mikhilske, Mali Shcherbaky, Novomayorsk, Malaya Tokmachka, Chervone, Pavlivka, Hulyai Pole, Novopetrovka and Veremivka were affected.

On the Southern Buzh front, the enemy shelled more than 28 populated areas. Among them — Oleksandrivka, Novogrigoriyevka, Zoria, Shevchenkove, Miren, Shyrokyne, Bilohirka, Bezimenne, Mirolyubivka, Vysokopillya and Olgine.

Activities continue with so-called «mobilization» on temporarily occupied territories. According to available information, since September 14 of the current year, documents previously issued for deferment from mobilization were canceled for nearly five hundred employees of Yenakiieve Metallurgical Plant. In addition, a ban has been introduced on men leaving the temporarily occupied Crimea without permission from military commissions.

In the vicinity of the populated place Novoaidar in Luhansk Oblast, successful artillery strikes against enemy weapons and military equipment concentration areas were confirmed on September 18 of this year. At that time, nearly fifty units of military equipment were rendered unusable and destroyed.

In addition, near the populated place Svatove, Defense Forces subunits inflicted damage to an area where enemy manpower was concentrated. It is known that about 70% of the personnel present at this location perished.

The enemy continues to take measures regarding replenishment of losses and formation of reserve units. According to available information, based on the 36th separate motorized rifle brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District located in Borzya Zabaykal'sky Krai, four rifle battalions are being formed. Officer positions in these battalions are being filled at the expense of instructors from the Far East Higher Command School. Previously it was reported about the formation of a marine rifle battalion based on the Black Sea Higher Naval School in temporarily occupied Sevastopol. Russian military leadership continues to use practices dating back to World War II during the formation of these units, which indicates serious problems and miscalculations.

During the day, subunits of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks near the populated places Mayor'ske, Vesele, Kurdiumivka and Novomykhailivka.

Over the past day, aviation of the Defense Forces inflicted damage on 24 areas where enemy manpower was concentrated and military equipment, four positions of anti-aircraft missile systems, and one ammunition depot.

In addition, our air defense subunits destroyed an Su-25 aircraft, a guided aerial missile, and three UAVs of the enemy on various fronts.

Rocket forces and artillery inflicted fire damage to 16 targets of the enemy over the past day, including six areas where manpower was concentrated, weapons and military equipment were located, seven areas with artillery, as well as three ammunition depots. Enemy losses are being verified.

We are united in our unbreakable spirit! We approach victory together! Glory to Ukraine!
