In the Kharkiv region, investigative actions are ongoing in areas that were liberated from Russian occupation.
All crimes committed by the Russians are being recorded, evidence of their guilt is being collected.
Torture cells have been found where peaceful residents of occupied cities and villages were abused. Premises in which people were held — even foreigners. In particular, six citizens of Sri Lanka, students of Kupyansk Medical College. As early as March, they were captured by Russian soldiers and later kept these individuals in a basement. Only now, after the liberation of Kharkiv region, have these people been rescued; medical assistance is being provided to them.
Exhumation of bodies is underway at a mass burial site near Izium. As of now, over 440 graves have been established. The number of people buried there cannot yet be determined, as the investigation continues.
There are clear proofs of torture and abuse... Moreover, there are testimonies that Russian soldiers, whose positions were nearby this site, shot at the buried simply for entertainment.
The world must react to all this. Russia repeated in Izium what it did in Bucha. And now we are only beginning to learn the full truth about what was happening during that time in Kharkiv region.
It is good that UN structures are already preparing a team of workers who will visit this place near Izium, who will see and be able to report to everyone in the UN system about what Russian terrorists did.
We will provide full access for journalists to the liberated territory and all sites of abuse. We will give such an access that will allow to inform the world that Russism must be condemned.
I thank all our partners, all leaders and simply ordinary people who help fight for justice. To fight for official recognition of Russia as a state sponsoring terrorism, to strengthen sanctions against Russia for this terror.
Held the General Headquarters meeting today. As always, key defense and security sector leaders were present, key representatives of central government ensuring implementation of the defense concept. Operational direction commanders reported on the situation at the front lines. Apart from completely understandable issues and decisions, future armaments topics were also touched upon, which will significantly strengthen our army.
Spoke today with the President of Finland. Thanked for the support already provided to us and outlined additional needs we have. A weighty topic of discussion was European policy regarding visas for citizens of a terrorist state. I believe that for every country that has a border with Russia, visa matters are crucially important and should be resolved in favor of full restriction of access by Russian citizens.
Also spoke today with representatives of Nike company. Thanked them for the decision to leave the Russian market. A correct decision. This is an example that business can play a significant role in protecting humanity and freedom. If any state chooses the path of terror, it is the duty of every company that respects itself to distance itself from such a state.
Today at the Office there was a meeting with the group led by Andriy Yermak working on Ukraine's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development — a meeting with G7 ambassadors and other partner countries. This is an extremely important direction, which has significance both in the context of European integration and in the context of internal transformation of our state. During the meeting, diplomats were presented with details of our initiative to establish a special international tribunal to punish Russia for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Thank you representatives of "The Big Seven" and other partner countries for your readiness to support Ukraine!
And one more thing. This Saturday we celebrate Rescue Worker's Day — a professional holiday of those who have dedicated their lives to saving others. And also the day of those, under certain circumstances and due to their integrity and courage, became rescuers helping someone else. Today I honored such people with state awards. And, of course, tomorrow evening in my address I will speak about this more detailedly. But I want to greet all who perform this noble work now, without waiting for tomorrow evening, thanking you for thousands of saved lives, the security that you return to us, all Ukrainians.
Eternal glory to those who care for people!
Please always help each other, always maintain unity in everything. We must stick together, all Ukrainians — and so we will win!
Glory to Ukraine!"
