After two losses in the first stage of Euroleague-2022 in Nazaré, Portugal against Spain (1:4) and Italy (3:5), the Ukrainian team needed to win today against Azerbaijan to preserve their qualification chances for the 2023 European Games.

In the first quarter, both teams struggled to find the keys to each other's goal, but it was Ukraine that eventually succeeded. On the 11th minute, our goalkeeper Andriy Nerus hit a fantastic shot from a distance and the ball flew into the net—1:0.

In the second quarter, the situation continued to develop along the same lines. Once again, it was the blue-and-yellow team that scored. Ivan Glutsyk on the 14th minute converted a set play—2:0.

In the final game segment, Azerbaijan predictably pushed forward and started creating chances near our goal. Fortunately, our goalkeeper Andriy Nerus played brilliantly and made several saves. However, he couldn't prevent a set play by Ramil that reduced the score—2:1.

However, Azerbaijan could not achieve more—2:1 in favor of coach Mykola Kostenko's team. This was Ukraine's first victory in this year's Euroleague tournament.
