In honor of Ukraine's Independence Day, a charitable tournament called "Cup of Independence-2022" took place at the V. Bannikov National Training Center. Teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Football Association, State Tax Service of Ukraine, Cyber Police Department, and KMDA participated in the competition.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Football Association Vadim Kostyuchenko on behalf of UAF President Andriy Pyvovar (UEFA Executive Committee member) and the national team expressed gratitude to military and law enforcement personnel for their invaluable contribution to defending Ukraine's independence: "You are an example of bravery and self-sacrifice not only for Ukraine but also for the entire free world. The football community is proud of our long-term cooperation and the opportunity to support you through football and social projects. Starting a new championship in defiance of war and against war — one such powerful initiative, whose main task is to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

According to the competition results, the first place was won by the State Tax Service team, silver went to the Cyber Police Department team, and bronze to the KMDA team.

First Vice President of the UAF Oleg Protasov joined in honoring the winners and all participants. "It is important that football life in Ukraine, despite numerous obstacles caused by Russia's full-scale invasion, is being restored. Football is especially needed now for both military personnel and fans because it boosts morale and strengthens our belief in victory. Such tournaments as today's are also very important because similar events help accumulate funds we direct to support our defenders. I wish our soldiers and all of Ukraine victory in the war for our country's independence,"— Oleg Protasov addressed the teams.
