"I wish good health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today, I signed an order awarding Marina Vyazovska with the Order "For Merit" and the rank of State Honorary Worker — a Ukrainian mathematician who became this year's recipient of the Fields Medal.
This is a very significant and prestigious distinction — it is called the Nobel Prize in Mathematics.
Ms. Vyazovska has become only the second woman since 1936 to win this medal. She managed to solve the problem of sphere packing in eight-dimensional space. As scientists note, Marina Vyazovska proposed very strong ideas and helped resolve related problems as well.
Today, I want to thank Ms. Marina. To thank her not only for her work, for a very powerful mathematical result, but also for the fact that she helps all of us, all Ukrainians, defend our freedom and independence. Especially during the award ceremony at the International Congress of Mathematicians, Ms. Marina spoke about Ukraine, about Russia's war against our country, and about the crimes of Russian occupiers.
Ms. Vyazovska studied in Ukraine, in Kyiv, works in Switzerland, in Lausanne, heads a number theory department. And I believe that there will come a day when Marina Vyazovska can return to Ukraine and teach here.
I participated in the "Asian Leadership" conference, which takes place annually in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea. This is one of those venues that attracts attention from the entire region. And it's important for Ukraine that our interests and values are heard and perceived around the world, especially in Asia's leading countries. I thanked them for their support and called for more active resistance to Russian terror tactics.
And what a cruel irony: today representatives of the occupying structures in Donetsk announced that they were recognized by North Korea. Of course, we will respond very harshly at all levels. But this is such news that it doesn't even need additional comments. Everything is obvious. The path we are taking and where occupiers can lead.
The clearance of debris after the Russian strike on Chasiv Yar continues. As of now, 48 people have been listed as dead, including one child. Unfortunately, the number of rescued has not changed — nine people. Rescue workers will continue to work at the site until all debris is cleared. This was one of the most brutal Russian strikes since the beginning of the war — so many victims... My condolences to the relatives and loved ones of those who died.
I am preparing to address participants in a forum in The Hague, Netherlands, which will take place tomorrow and is dedicated to bringing Russian war criminals to justice. World democracies are ready to do everything necessary for every Russian terrorist to answer for the evil against Ukrainians. And we need to coordinate our efforts so that all those responsible receive just verdicts. A tribunal will be held.
Today, there were many mentions in the news about a meeting in Turkey regarding unblocking agricultural exports from our country through the Black Sea. We are indeed making significant efforts to restore food supply to the global market. And I am grateful to the United Nations and Turkey for their respective efforts. The success of this story is needed not only by our state but, without exaggeration, by the entire world. If it succeeds in removing the Russian threat to shipping in the Black Sea, it will ease the acute global food crisis. Ukraine's delegation informed me that there has been some progress. We will agree on details with the UN Secretary-General in the coming days.
As usual, I signed an order awarding our soldiers tonight. 136 participants of combat operations were awarded state honors, 25 posthumously.
Eternal glory to all who gave their lives for Ukraine!
Eternal gratitude to everyone and every woman who defends our country!
Glory to Ukraine!"
