"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!
All our defenders!
Today was a difficult day.
First, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to summon the representative of Canada in our country due to an absolutely unacceptable sanctions exemption for Russia. This concerns not just one turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline that Canada should not have transferred but did anyway, effectively transferring it to Russia. It's about common rules.
If a state like Russia can push through such an exemption in sanctions, what exemptions will they seek tomorrow or the day after? This is a very dangerous question. Not just for Ukraine, but for all democratic countries around the world.
Decisions on sanction exemptions will be perceived in Moscow exclusively as signs of weakness. That's their logic. And now there can be no doubt that Russia will try not only to limit but completely stop gas supplies to Europe at the most critical moment. This is what needs to be prepared for right now, this is what is being provoked.
Because every action in these conditions is perceived by Russian leadership as a stimulus for further, stronger pressure.
Of course, one can still reconsider the decision about one turbine, which brings with it many other problems. Russia has never played fair in energy and won't now if they don't see strength.
Throughout the day, debris is being cleared in the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk. Two high-rise buildings were hit by Russian terrorists two days ago, resulting in 31 deaths so far. Nine people managed to be rescued.
Kharkiv endured new brutal strikes from the Russian army. Another missile struck a residential building — one entrance completely destroyed. In the morning, occupiers shelled the Saltivsky and Kyivsky districts with multiple rocket launchers — five people were killed.
Rocket attacks hit Odesa, extremely brutal combat actions continued in Donetsk and on the territory of Luhansk region.
My condolences to all relatives of those who died...
And against this backdrop, it's simply shameful to see people lacking the courage to honestly address one turbine.
I submitted an important bill today to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine — on legal and social guarantees for citizens of Poland who are in Ukraine. In fact, this is a response to a law that was passed by the Polish state earlier this year in our citizens' interest. Specifically, I propose giving our Polish brothers the opportunity to legally stay in Ukraine for 18 months, work rights, business activity, study at our institutions, and medical care.
And I ask members of parliament to take this bill very seriously.
We have reached the highest level of trust and cooperation with Poland not just over decades but across generations of our peoples. And we must only increase it, further strengthen our ties in all spheres based on a clear understanding that Ukraine and Poland can be free only together — as brothers.
Today I signed an order to bestow the honorary title "City-Rescuer" upon the city of Peremyshl. For the extraordinary contribution of the city's leadership, volunteers, and residents in helping our people and defending us. I remind you that this is already the second such decision — Polish Jezioro was the first to receive it.
I held important talks with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte in Kyiv. We discussed our defense cooperation, financial aid for Ukraine and further movement of our country on a European path. I thanked him for strong support that is now the greatest in Ukrainian-Dutch relations throughout history.
I spoke with President Erdogan of Turkey. The key issue was restoring our export routes through the Black Sea. We are working to make this possible. The sooner it happens, the fewer people around the world will feel the impact of the food crisis that Russia has so carefully prepared.
In the evening, I signed another decree awarding our heroes. State awards were conferred upon 287 participants in combat actions.
Thank you to everyone who is defending people and the country!
Thank you to everyone working for victory!
I believe that thanks to you, the sun will rise in Ukraine.
Glory to Ukraine!"
