Forward of the Ukrainian national women's team, Inna Hlushchenko, revealed what influenced the result in the home match between blue-and-yellow and Scotland (0:4) in the World Cup 2023 qualifier.

"We are saddened by the result. But this is football, such things happen sometimes. We did not expect it. However, we were slightly weakened by a penalty in the first minutes that I believe should not have been awarded. 

I had chances to score, wanted at least one goal to cheer our fans who supported us from the stands and watched the game live online. But something was lacking. Perhaps we needed to be tougher, play more confidently in certain situations.

We are forgetting this match and preparing for the next one. I hope it will go better," — noted a player of the Ukrainian team.

Recall that conceding to Scotland, Ukrainians lost their chances to advance to the World Cup 2023 qualifiers playoff round. The maximum they can earn is 13 points which are currently held by the Scots, but they will lose them due to head-to-head results, so according to the regulations, they cannot overtake them.

The next match under Luis Cortés' guidance will be against Hungary on June 28 in Rzhishchev at the "Stal" stadium (kickoff - 9 PM Kyiv time).
