The blue-and-yellow team completed another stage of their foreign training for the European Championship, during which they played two friendlies. After losing to Italy (1:2), our team crushed a second-ranked local division team called "Banjolo" (8:1).

The head coach of the Ukraine national team, Oleg Shaytanov, commented on his players' performance in the match against Italy. His words are quoted by the press service of the Ukrainian Futsal Association.

"How would you evaluate the first friendly match after four months?"

"Yes, this was our first match since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Overall, I am satisfied with the team's performance. The most important thing is that we did not fail functionally and played with great desire."

"The first 20-minute period in the execution of our national team was better than their actions after halftime. Can you agree with this statement?"

"Yes, there were more potential goal-scoring moments in the first half. Closer to its end, we slightly slowed down in aggression during defense, but there wasn't a big difference between our actions before and after halftime. Everyone gave their maximum for the team."

"Why did the Ukraine national team play only one match against Italy?"

"Italy offered us to play just one friendly match. Francesca Salvatore said that this meeting during wartime is 'more than a game.' We are grateful for an interesting match."

"How would you evaluate the performance of debutantes?"

"Anastasia Teresh and Polina Druzd made their first appearances in the national team. All girls who are taking their first steps in the team played well."

"What are your further plans for training?"

"We will fly to France, where we will spend our next seven days of training."

Recall that the final tournament of the second European Championship for women's futsal, in which Ukraine will participate, will take place from July 1 to 3 this year.

Earlier, UEFA announced that the final tournament of the Women's Euro-2022 Futsal Championship, which was scheduled for March 25 to 27 in Portugal, has been postponed. This decision was made after consultations and obtaining consent from the country's football association.

Later, UEFA announced new dates for semifinals and medal matches. The games are planned for July 1-3. Thus, on July 1, Ukraine will play against Spain in the semifinal. The venue of the final tournament has not changed — all matches will take place in Gondomar, Portugal.

In another semifinal match, Portugal and Russia were supposed to meet. However, due to Russian military aggression in Ukraine, FIFA and UEFA excluded the national teams of Russia and clubs from all competitions under their auspices. Consequently, the Russian women's futsal team will not play in the Euro-2022 final tournament. According to UEFA's decision, Hungary, which secured second place in its group during the main round of qualification, will take part in the continental championship.
