After the UEFA Euro 2023 (U-21) qualifier match against Armenia (2:0), head coach of Ukraine's youth team, Ruslan Rotan, answered questions from the UAF press service.

— Mr. Rotan, congratulations on your successful qualification tournament. Please comment on the game against Armenia.

— Thank you for the congratulation. The boys' attitude in a match that didn't really decide anything pleased me. Motivation was at a good level. We asked the team to play for our soldiers who are fighting for our independence.

— Behind the group stage. What result did you expect before these matches?

— We have what we have. We could have expected more, but we are satisfied with this result as well. Ahead of us is the playoff for a place at the European Championship. So immediately after the game against Armenia, we start preparing for these matches and waiting for June 21st when the draw will take place.

— In the match against Armenia, quite a few players who had little playing time during this camp got their chance. How would you evaluate their performance?

— Regarding the previous game, I have no questions for the team. Once again, I liked the attitude of the group. The boys fulfilled what we agreed upon before the match. Yes, there were some mistakes, but we will work on eliminating them.

— Another victory thanks to effective play by the team in the second half. Was it due to good physical preparation or your words during halftime?

— It's all part of a complex approach. We managed the workload, and this helped the boys approach each match in good shape.

— The players are now dispersing. There is war going on in Ukraine. What are your thoughts on that?

— Despite all the problems, it's important for the championship to start. If we look at purely sporting aspects, I'm already worried about the playoffs. I want our players to approach these matches in game condition.
