The venue and dates for the matches of the 2022/2023 UEFA European Championship (U17) qualifying round in group A6 have been set, where teams from Ukraine, Denmark, England, and Estonia will participate.
"— The matches will take place on October 7th, 10th, and 13th in Estonia," — head coach of the Ukrainian U17 team Serhiy Sapronov said in a comment to the official website of the UAFA.
"— It is worth noting that in the previous qualifying cycle for the continental championship, your wards had to settle matters with Estonian teams in the capital of this country."
"— Yes, and then, last October, in the final round, we managed to celebrate a victory and secure a ticket to the elite division. However, for fairness' sake, it should be said that already back then, as hosts, there was a large group of 16-year-old footballers, since it was already known that Estonia would host the finals of Euro-2022/2023 (U17). So Estonian teams were looking at their nearest reserve."
"— Then clarify what personnel plans are in place for the Ukrainian team?"
"— Compared to the previous cycle, I cannot rely on eight players born in 2005 right away. Most of them will join the ranks of the U19 squad, which is awaiting a qualifying tournament for the European Championship in Israel this November. The difficulty lies in the fact that due to Russia's aggression, matches are not being held in Ukraine this year, and it is now hard to say where the candidates for the national team are located. Soon my assistants, Lyudmila Lemeshko, Mykola Sydorchuk, and Oleksandr Mitik, and I plan to clarify this."
"— In your opinion, who will be vying for leadership roles?"
"— Goalkeeper Yeva Rayenko, half-backs Viktoriya Shevtsova and Anastasiia Stakhnyuk. The positions on the left flank of defense and in attack remain problematic. However, there is still time to find reinforcements."
"— Then the last question: what can your wards rely on in Estonia?"
"— It's important not to finish last in the group stage, which would allow them to retain their place in the elite division."
