Semi-defender of the national team of Ukraine, Serhiy Sydorchuk, commented on the defeat against Wales and talked about the team's preparation for the start in the UEFA Nations League 2022/2023.

The day after the playoff match to qualify for the 2022 World Cup against Wales (0:1), the Ukrainian national team flew from Cardiff to Dublin, where they will play their first game in the new UEFA Nations League tournament.

In the evening training session, 16 players participated. Those who started against Wales underwent recovery procedures. The main group of national team members, after warming up and squares, worked on the structure of the game during tactical sessions. After this, the footballers reinforced their play in a match format.

Semi-defender of the national team Serhiy Sydorchuk talked about the goal of the team in the Nations League: "We are starting a new tournament. The coaching staff has set the task to return to League A. We will start working on this. Those who played against Wales rested, and we trained a little bit and conducted tactical work."

After the game in Cardiff, painful feelings, nothing is over yet — the wound is bleeding. The beauty of football is that you always have another chance. After the match with Wales, there was such an atmosphere in the locker room that I had never seen before in my entire football career. A heavy atmosphere, silence. But then we saw what people were saying and writing on social media. It became easier to bear it. I want to thank all supporters, everyone in Ukraine who watched the matches and wrote us wishes.

What prevented us from scoring against Wales? Only the goalkeeper, I believe. Look at the statistics, watch the replays of moments. Only the goalkeeper. As for the unawarded penalty — I think it was there. But what happened is done. I believe our supporters have already given it to the referee.

The guys supported Andriy Yarmolenko. He feels better now, but he still needs time to recover and mentally move on from that match. He — our leader. We will help him. Moving forward," Sydorchuk said.

We remind you that the first match of the UEFA Nations League 2022/2023, Ukraine's national team will play against Ireland in Dublin. The game will take place on June 8 (kickoff at 4:45 PM Kyiv time).
