On May 31 in Nyon, Switzerland, during the draw for the first round of qualification for Euro-2022/2023, the Ukrainian women's U17 national team will learn the names of their opponents.

The ceremony, which starts at 11.00 AM Kyiv time on Tuesday, will determine the group compositions for both leagues and the hosts of this year’s mini-tournaments. The official UEFA website announces this.

In League A, 28 teams (including seven that moved up from League B based on the results of the second round of the 2021/2022 season) will participate. They will be divided into seven groups. Teams in one group will play at a single venue in mini-tournament format. Those finishing fourth will continue their season in the second round of League B.

The seeding for the second round will depend on the positions teams secure in their first-round groups. Estonia will also participate despite having an automatic qualification to the final stage as a host nation.

Teams in League B (including those that dropped from League A after the second round of the 2021/2022 season) compete for promotion to League A in six groups. Group winners and runners-up with the best record against teams finishing first and third will move up.

Draw Order

In the first round, 48 participants including Estonia’s national team that automatically qualifies for the final stage are divided into League A (28 teams) and League B (20 teams) based on rankings from the second round of the 2021/2022 season. In League A, teams will be split into seven quartets, in League B — two quartets and four trios.

All national teams were distributed across four pots (in League A — seven teams per pot, in League B — six teams each in Pots 1 and 2, eight — in Pot 3). Each group in League A will have one representative from each pot, while in League B each group will include one team from the first and second pots, two teams from the third pot for groups V1 and V2, and one more — for each of the remaining groups.

According to previous decisions by UEFA’s Executive Committee and the UEFA Working Group on Extraordinary Situations, Armenia and Azerbaijan national teams cannot be drawn into the same group.

After the draw, the hosts for mini-tournaments will be determined. Matches will take place from August 1 to November 20, 2022.

As a reminder, due to Russia's full-scale aggression and martial law in Ukraine, our team could not participate in the second round of Euro-2022 qualification and formally finished fourth in their group. However, UEFA’s Executive Committee disqualified Russia and decided to keep the Ukrainian women's national team in the elite division. Thus, they were placed into Pot 3 of League A.
