The blue-and-yellow team continues to prepare for the qualifiers of the 2022 World Cup and the 2022/2023 Nations League. In their latest friendly match, Ukraine's national team defeated Italian "Empoli" with a score of 3:1. After the game, Roman Yaremchuk, who scored one of our team’s goals, commented on the result.
"You haven't scored for 'Benfica' in a while now. How much will this goal against 'Empoli' help you?"
"I'm always happy to come back to the national team, here the level of players is completely different, it's much easier for me to play, I get many more scoring opportunities. I'm glad I scored and will continue to develop further."
"How do you feel after your club season? What can you summarize about your first season at 'Benfica'?"
"Now there's no point talking about the club since I'm in the national team. At 'Benfica,' I am very happy. Of course, it wasn't as good a season as when I was in Belgium, but I've been developing and believe that I made a big and serious step in my career. Right now, I'm with the national team, enjoying training sessions and interactions with teammates, only positive emotions."
"How would you assess your physical condition?"
"The assessment should come from the coaching staff. I feel good. There's still enough time before the match against Scotland to put in a lot of effort and prepare well, showing a decent game. We're on the right path."
"Oleksandr Karavaev scored an impressive goal. How would you comment on his goal from an attacker's perspective?"
"Oleksandr has enough technique to make such a finish. He played coolly, well done. For a right-back, these kind of runs are quite interesting. I'm happy for him and congratulate him on his second goal for the national team."
"Did you watch Eurovision where Ukraine won? "
"We watched Eurovision as a whole team, we were very anxious, sending our votes. Indeed, there's pride that I'm Ukrainian and such people are winning at Eurovision, the world knows about us now. I want to congratulate Kalush Orchestra, great guys. Understand that everyone is waiting for similar feats from the national football team."
"The Ukraine team took the field with EU flags. What does this performance mean to you?"
"Our country is developing in the right direction, we are all moving towards the EU. We want to show that we want to be there. We see support from the EU but want even more of it. Against us is a very tough aggressor and we need to put in maximum effort so people can see that we want to live alongside them, develop as they do. That's why it's important to take such initiatives."
