On August 25, the groups of UEFA Youth League for the upcoming season will be formed, which will become the ninth in the tournament's history.

In the 2022/2023 season, 64 teams will participate in the UEFA Youth League.Initially, the participants will be divided into two streams — the UEFA Champions League Path and the National Champions Path.

The draw will take place in August, matches will start in September. The two streams will merge into one when the knockout phase begins, specifically — on February 7 and 8. The full list of participants will be approved on August 24, when the UEFA Champions League play-off round matches end.

As always, 32 youth teams whose clubs advance to the UEFA Champions League group stage will follow the Champions Path. Among them — Donetsk 'Shakhtar'. The National Champions Path will be followed by winners of national youth championships from 32 countries with the highest UEFA rankings. In this branch, Lviv's 'Rukh' will participate.

If the senior team of a club that becomes a champion at youth level qualifies for the Champions League group stage through qualification, the place vacated in the National Champions Path will go to the next ranked associations' champions.

The group composition in the Champions Path repeats the composition of groups in the Champions League itself. Teams that take first places will advance directly to the round of 1/8 finals, second teams will enter the knockout phase.Participants in the National Champions Path will conduct two rounds of knockout matches. Eight winners of the second round will enter the knockout phase.

In the knockout phase, teams will play one-off elimination matches. In the knockout phase, eight winners of the National Champions Path will host eight second-placed teams from the Champions Path.

Eight winners of the knockout phase will advance to the round of 1/8 finals, where they will already be waiting for eight group winners from the Champions Path.

The semi-finals and final, as always, will take place at the 'Colovray' stadium near UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
