Main coach of Ukraine's U-19 national team (footballers born in 2007 or later) Dmytro Mikhaylenko spoke about the draw for the elite round of Euro-2026 qualifying for the yellow and blue.
Ukraine's U-19 national team, which passed the qualification round of Euro-2026 without a doubt, learned their opponents in the elite round. They are Romania, Kazakhstan, and Northern Ireland.
On this matter, head coach of the yellow and blue Dmytro Mikhaylenko expressed his thoughts on the official website of UAF:
— Our group is balanced, without leading European teams. It's hard to say if it's good or bad, we'll see after the elite round is over. But this fact increases the chances for all teams to advance to the final stage of the European Championship.
Perhaps Romania will be considered the favorite as the host of future matches. I wouldn't rule out Kazakhstan either, which is making rapid progress. I'm sure this opponent will put up a fight. And it won't be easy against Northern Ireland either, because British teams always compete until the very last minute.
Group 1: Germany, Austria, Greece, Sweden.
Group 2: England, Portugal, Poland, Serbia.
Group 3: Croatia, France, Norway, Switzerland.
Group 4: Czech Republic, Denmark, Belgium, Latvia.
Group 5: Ukraine, Romania, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland.
Group 6: Italy, Turkey, Slovakia, Hungary.
Group 7: Spain, Netherlands, Finland, Slovenia.
Matches in seven groups will take place from March 23-31, 2026. The winners of the groups will join the host of Euro-2026 (U-19), Wales, for the final stage, which runs from June 28 to July 11.
The draw for the final tournament is scheduled for April 16, 2026.
