Today, on December 11, Donetsk's 'Shakhtar' played their fifth group stage match in the Conference League against Malta's 'Hamrun Spartans.'
In the first round, Turan's team defeated Scottish Aberdeen (3:2), lost to Warsaw Legia (1:2) in the second round, beat Icelandic Breiðablik (2:0) in the third, and won against Irish Shamrock Rovers (2:1) in the fourth.
In the first half of today's match, Donetsk had the upper hand. They created at least four sharp moments but lacked accuracy with their shots. Before halftime, the hosts were more dangerous, and Kirill Fesyun had to work hard.
Shakhtar managed to break the deadlock in the second half. On the 61st minute, Azarov delivered a cross from the left flank into the penalty area for Meireles, who scored with his head. Three minutes later, Isak doubled the visitors' lead by skillfully outmaneuvering the goalkeeper.
Thus, Shakhtar won 2-0 and now has 12 points, placing them second in the Conference League group stage table.
