The day before tomorrow's match for the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Ukraine and Iceland, which will take place in Warsaw at the "Legia" stadium (kickoff - 7 PM Kyiv time), the head coach of our opponent Arnar Gunnleifsson spoke to the media.
"Everyone is aware of how important tomorrow's game is for us and Ukraine. The match will be decisive for both national teams, and I hope that you will see a truly dramatic encounter with battle throughout all 90 minutes. I am looking forward to this match."
Regarding the first match against the Ukrainians. Yes, we conceded five goals, but I can say that it was one of the best matches for Iceland's national team. If you analyze the goals conceded, such goals are extremely rare: an incredibly executed penalty kick, shots from difficult positions - these are moments that happen once in a thousand years.
I see that with each international window we add more. I am satisfied with my team. I am sure you will witness a very serious and high-quality match. And we also expect both teams to show their maximum potential," — Gunnleifsson noted in particular.
