Back then, thanks to successful shots by Andriy Voronin, Serhiy Nazarenko, Ruslan Rotan, Oleksandr Gusiov, Andriy Vorobei and Oleksiy Belik, Ukraine defeated their opponent - 6:0.

The third encounter between the teams took place a little more than a month later on September 9 in Baku at the Republican Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov in the World Cup 2026 qualifier. The opponents drew 1-1 with a goal by Georgiy Sudakov.
