The eighth round of the Ukrainian Premier League season-2025/2026 has concluded, with all three leaders — "Shakhtar," "Dynamo," and "Kolos" — losing points in their home matches.

"Kolos" failed to score against "Ruh" (0:2), while "Shakhtar" suffered its first defeat of the season, losing to Cherkasy's LNZ with a score of 1:4. In turn, "Dynamo" played their fourth consecutive draw this time against "Metalist 1925" (1:1). One point was not enough to return to the top of the standings.

Despite setbacks, the miners remain in first place, ahead of "Dynamo" and "Kryvbas" by one league point. Under the guidance of Patrick van Leeuwen, Dynamo's players took advantage of Kryvyi Rih's misfortune, defeating "Kudrivka" (3:1) and entering the top three. In this match, Venezuelan forward Mendosa scored a brace, bringing his goal tally to five and now leading the scoring race.

Players called up by Serhiy Rebrov for matches with Ukraine's under-26 team against Iceland (October 10, Reykjavik) and Azerbaijan (October 13, Krakow) participated in this round: in Dynamo's lineup — Mykhailo Shaparenko (substituted at the 75th minute), Volodymyr Brazyko (came on as a substitute at the 75th minute), Nazar Voloshyn (goal scorer); in Shakhtar's lineup — Dmytro Ryzhnik, Valeriy Bondar, Mykhailo Matviienko, Yurim Konoplia and Artem Bondarenko (substituted at the 57th minute); in Metalist 1925's lineup — Ivan Kalyuzhnyi; in Polissya's lineup — Bohdan Mikhaylichenko, Oleksiy Hutsulak (came on as a substitute at the 46th minute), Oleksandr Nazarenko (came on as a substitute at the 61st minute), Vladyslav Velitnen (goal scorer, substituted at the 68th minute).

The next ninth round of the UPL will begin on Friday, October 17 and last four days.
