Today, September 3rd, the Ukraine U-19 youth team (players born in 2007 or later) played their first match at a tournament they are participating in as part of a training camp in Spain.
The first opponent for coach Dmitry Mykhaylenko's squad was the England team. The match started without any warm-up period. As early as the 4th minute, after an English corner kick, the Ukrainians launched a quick counterattack that ended with a goal, but it was disallowed due to offside.
The score was opened in the 10th minute. A prolonged attack by the British team on the right flank concluded with a cross, which Domchak reacted to, but Mukasa was first to pick up the ball – 1:0.
After halftime, the Ukrainians continued playing second fiddle. In the 62nd minute, high pressure from the English team ended in a ball interception near their penalty area. Meuca shifted right and delivered an accurate shot from about 17 meters to his left corner – 2:0. This score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
The next match for the blue-and-yellow team will be on September 6th against the Netherlands (kickoff at 8:00 PM).
