Today, Poltava's "Vorskla" and Kharkiv's "Metalist 1925" learned their opponents in the second round of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

On June 24, the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the UEFA Women's Champions League took place. This stage opens a new season in an updated format with 18 teams competing. Nine teams will immediately qualify for the group stage: "Arsenal" (England), "Chelsea" (England), "Lyon" (France), PSG (France), "Bayern Munich" (Germany), "Wolfsburg" (Germany), "Barcelona" (Spain), "Benfica" (Portugal), and "Juventus" (Italy). Another nine teams will join after the third qualifying round.

For the 2024/2025 season, Ukraine will be represented in this tournament for the second time in history by two teams: Poltava's "Vorskla" (starting from the second round of the Champions Path) and Kharkiv's "Metalist 1925" (starting from the second round of the League Path).

By the draw, "Vorskla" landed in Group 5 where their first opponent in the semifinals will be the winner of Group 6 of the first round ("Lanchutti" [Georgia], "Mitrovica" [Kosovo], "Cliftonville" [Northern Ireland]). The match is scheduled for August 27. In case of success, on August 30 they will face the winner of the pair "Gintaras" (Lithuania) – "Farul" (Romania).

"Metalist 1925" in the semifinals of Group 1 of the League Path will play against Swedish "Hammarby" on August 27. In case of success, on August 30 they will face the winner of the pair "Manchester United" (England) – PSV (Netherlands).

Tournament System

Matches for the second qualifying round are scheduled for August 27 and 30 (for champions and league representatives). The stage will be held in mini-tournaments format (semifinals, final, and third-place match). To qualify for the group stage of the Champions League, teams must pass not only the second but also a third qualifying round (play-off).

Based on the draw results, 28 teams formed 7 groups of 4 clubs each. In each mini-tournament, two semifinals, a final and a third-place match are played. All matches are one-legged (one game). Winners of finals advance to the next stage.

League Path

At this stage, 15 teams are divided into 3 groups of 4 teams each and 1 group with 3 teams. Semifinals, final, and third-place matches are played. Winners of finals advance further.
